ive read some things about it and its supposed to be a pretty amazing film. a lot of deep meaning, and political meanings too.
I'm going to go see it as soon as I can. Made by some dude whose never really done anything big, after Halo got scrapped they decided to make this. He made it in his hometown too, some shooting in a landfill. They actually had to dig through the landfill to remove nails and stuff, and I guess searched through the piles of trash to use some of the stuff in the film as props. pretty cool jackson has his name on it because him and some other people/companies provided financial support because they felt obliged to after halo fell apart and wanted to give the director a chance

It looks like the most intelligent sci-fi movie of the summer. I'm hoping to see it this weekend.

In summary, an alien movie that is less about aliens and more about how fucked up humans are. There is so much going on. The movie looked ridiculous in the trailers.. and it starts off pretty ridiculous.. serving aliens eviction notices.. well it works.
officially starts by offering clues through the form of a documentary sometime in the future. It's funny, incredibly disturbing, and action packed. Perfect alien movie.. you empathize with the crabs and loathe the humans. This movie feels as if it could actually happen, not really though, but kind of.

just saw it, man this movie is gonna make so much money. i went on a wednesday at midnight and there was like 200 people there
movie could appeal to so many different types of people that i was really surprised i hadnt heard more about it before seeing it. it didnt ever feel like a nerdy sci fi flick tho ![]() also i was like the only person laughing at the crabs subtitles during the eviction scenes, i kinda felt like maybe i was being racist or at least politically incorrect and had to make myself not laugh out loud at parts haha

pretty interesting how the movie alluded to class/ race opression, goverment alterior motives, rogue security forces etc. etc. i feel it can defintely speak to some in todays political/ social climate.
i thought it was a bit shallow, plot wise. seemed like you only got the beginning of the story, probably setting up for a sequel though. I thought the movie got bogged down at a couple of points and could have been developed more rapidly rather than the slow lead up and relatively short climax. not a bad movie by any means, i just wanted to toss out some of the negative points i noticed.

I just saw it and it's great. I'd say the best sci-fi movie of the year. It does what all good science fiction is supposed to do which is use a speculative concept to tell a human story. It's very relevant to today's world politics and social problems. Miles above dross like GI Joe.
If there's one little quibble I have with it is that it never stays with one cinematic style for very long. The first 30 minutes it's this faux documentary/apartheid allegory. Then it's a classic alien possession story. Then it shifts again and basically becomes Aliens in Johannesburg. Again, I loved it all and it's always very good, but maybe it's chief fault it draws from too many influences and doesn't fully explore all the potential elements that the plot offers. The ending leaves it very open to a sequel, but I hope they keep it at one movie. I can't imagine a studio searching for summer sci-fi profits not ruining what they've done here.
