I for one and very excited to see this. Glad enough to have saved a free movie pass for something that comes along just like this

just got back from a midnight showing of this...was NOT impressed. Visually it was awesome, and the kid playing Max is phenomenal in it, but without any semblance of journey for the character...without learning anything, without the story actually GOING anywhere, and without Max leaving the Wild Things with some sort of epiphany, when the credits rolled I turned to my BF and said, "what the hell just happened?"

I suppose it's "brilliant" in its ability to tell a story like a young boy would (meandering, unforused but obscenely creative, etc), but I mean...how many times have you listened to a young kid tell stories? It's amazing and fun for ten minutes, then not so much.

Seriously, if I wanted to I could just throw the next gay guy I come across right up against a wall and give him an anal assault and he wouldn't complain one bit.

I'm glad they did the monsters with animatronics instead of CGI, well I guess they did some CGI on the faces based on the actors' own facial expressions which is pretty chill.

I try to. Plus summer/fall movies are my bread and butter. I consider it research to a degree as an actor.

meh

it involved a 747 airliner and a Cambodian circus performer named Mr. Winkle.

I'll spare you the details, but I'm an actor now.

That hollywood could not capture the magic of a timeless kids story book is, I think, not a bad thing at all.
