Broke my computer :D
Shortly after booting up my computer freezes. Before, the only problem I was having was firefox would crash trying to log into hotmail. When I was installing AVG free, I had to completely remove norton antivirus. after uninstalling I had to restart and the first time it booted up after that the problems arose. It funtions in safe mode but the Internet crashes and the AVG crashes during installation.
Do you guys have any idea what's wrong or how to fix this? I tried giving it some pot but that didn't do anything helpful. Safari sucks to use but I'm enjoying not heing such a slave to my computer.

Osirus your problem sounds like some bad malware/virus. Of course I can't diagnose it from here.
What I would do is go to a library or other computer and download another free spyware/maleware program like Advanced System Care, I forget the other program this company offers but it is pretty effective for viruses. Put the installer on a thumb drive. Then pop it into your problematic computer while in safe mode. Install it, run every tool they have availible, uninstall firefox, reboot, download firefox, then try. Herb - your probably sadly going to have to reformat your hard drive . Cuz if it does that even in safe-mode, there isn't too much you can realistically do.

Ok so I DL'd Advanced System Care and ran all the programs it has. Windows still starts and runs OK in safe mode but Firefox is still crashing (while in safe mode). It is continuing to do the same thing upon boot-up in normal mode.
What should be my next step to get it back to working? I don't want to take it into a place to have it serviced; paying an ungodly amount to have some half-assed technician look through my files, (probably steal my good porn) and install a few anti-viral programs does not whet my appetite. I'm afraid that when uninstall Firefox, I'll lose all my favorites and browsing history. Is there any way to preserve this kind of stuff? Thanks for the help so far
