I think it'll start off slow and maybe pick up in a few years. But I dunno, 3d looks cool and it can enhance the experience a little bit, but I honestly don't see it ever going mainstream the way LCDs took over tube. I don't see it flopping though either. It'll just be one of those technological perks that you can get if you want to pay the money for.

Watching 3D TV would be annoying. "Oh, let me get my 3D glasses", and then look like the Jetson's/idiots. I mean I love TV but it's not that important. Also, watching extended amounts or even small amounts of 3D causes many people to get headaches. Not something I'm even slightly interested in. Additionally, there are also many people who have sight issues (I'm not talking about being able to see well) and can not benefit from it at all.
I think this is another case where technology is progressing at such as pace that the engineers do not know where to focus these gains in a markable way that people will want to buy their "revolutionary" products. 1st we were told that HD TV was the end all and now 3D TV. Ok, yeah right. I'll never buy one - I did not say that about HD TV back in the day.

You are simply a PC fanboy who whenever is mentioned you feel the need to make yourself feel better about yourself by degrading that person, no matter how naive and wrong you may be. Sorry, I make my decisions based on the best product available at the time not the products name. I do endless research before I buy anything of significance. You, are the ignorant one (a nicer way of saying you are stupid).

I disagree - I see things in real life in 3D naturally. everyday. Enough is enough. HD is well above good enough. So, you will have to find and then be wearing your 3D glasses when watching? I will not. I would much rather (and will) buy a top of the line oled TV instead by a mile. Oled is the real new and better alternative feature in TV viewing experience and will win out.

I'd disagree with that. I was playing a game last night and I realised something. As you play a 3d game, say an FPS, your eyes constantly changing focus in a way that feels like you're actually experiencing depth perception. but really you're always focusing on a 2d surface, and your brain instinctively understands this. I think fully 3d holographic experience that encapsuls your entire visual range would be the wave of the new couch potato future. Imagine a pair of lightweight TV glasses that covered your entire field of view, including the peripherals, that holographically projected a full 3d, moving, interactive image into the room around you that made it seem like you were actually inside the game/movie/tv show.

Also, I heard that many people who saw AVATAR got headaches and motion sickness (fun!). This is clearly a technology not for the masses nor do I think there is a demand. Jeesh, most people still haven't got an HD TV, and for me, I certainly wouldn't want to spend 1/2 the day watching 3D TV as my eyes would bleed. Some really cool ideas go nowhere and I really do think this is one of them. Like those stupid EXTRA bright blue headlights. Good concept (e.g., better vision for the driver) bad implementation (driver coming towards you can't see as well) or are light sensitive (migraines).

Oh, but I did. Please enlighten me regarding what I missed. The article says they are going to cost 4gs? An Oled TV costs significantly more (2xs as much conservatively). Swamp land anyone? It's really cheap. Sony's top of the line non-oled TV costs almost 4gs today! Grasp some reality and don't believe everything written. Being gullible is not a good sign for your future investments.
But hey, it sounds cool to say you have a 3D TV. That alone is worth it!
