you can't very well reboot perfection (princess bride)

seriously that might be one of the best movies ever. and i could see them redoing never ending story, but it would be like redoing labyrinth. some shit just shouldnt be messed with

fuck i saw abyss for the first time a couple weeks ago. it has to be the corniest, least realistic movie ive seen from that era. When james cameron's name came up at the end i thought i was tripping.

i mean, it was bearable. until the dude jumps into a suit and falls fucking 15 miles to the bottom of the ocean to defuse a nuke, which he conveniently lands right on top of.

Why remake that?

i'd like to see a new frankenstien, been way too long. could make it cool though, like have it start fitting in society, trying to balance his work at McDonald and time with his estranged love interest. give the fucker an iphone and bring this shit to the 21st century.

I agree that there's no reason to reboot The Abyss, it was already a fairly high budget movie that looked realistic for the most part even by today's standards. It also had its cornball moments - pretty much the entire movie after they got rid of the actual tension in the movie (hicks from aliens gone PSYCho!) got kinda... eh.

But I also think there's been enough damn frankenstein movies made. Unless they made it really good and you actually really cared about frankenstein... if it were done like that maybe it'd be good for the children.

I still say Dune. That movie is full of so much failed potential.

not quite on topic, but i'd like to see star wars episode 1-3 remade by peter jackson, including a snuff cameo of george lucas getting blinded and then horribly incinerated by a bounty hunter in a chase scene, and obi wan quipping, "my, it seems someone lost sight..'

^ That seems on topic.

I'd also say that Splice was pretty much a modern day Frankenstein.

Another reboot I'd like would be Contact. The movie was so god awful and away from the amazing Carl Sagan book it deserves better. Though it would need a bit of a rewrite since this book written in the 80's had the Soviet Union well into 1999.

Though a little alt-history could be good if done right.

I want to see a remake of Short Circuit, though I guess Wall-E was pretty close.

But i miss classic lines like 'Your mother was a snowblower!'

Dig this, there is a frankenstien movie in the works and it's being directed by none other than guillermo del toro.

I would much rather have had him do the hobbit, than Frankenstein...

hobbits being around for the awaking of a giant dragon and a battle of five armies > a man who's sex doll came to life and terrorized folks in the dark ages...

Heh, I was in the process of adding that same thought onto there when I got the e-mail notification.

I was very disappointed when I learned of the hobbit's cancelation.
