Movies they SHOULD reboot

In the current rapage of 80's nostalgia, pretty soon leg warmers are going to be rebooted.

And as we've seen there's been a lot movie reboots, but what old[er] movies should be updated?

I'll start, I would love to see a reboot of The Abyss.

With today's CGI and marine technology along with James Cameron's love for the deep sea could turn into an endearing update.

As long as they re-boot the acting. The Abyss was badass except for the corny shit between Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio and Ed Harris. Jeez, that made me want to open a vein.

As for cool old movies to re-do, I think "Forbidden Planet" would be a good one. The ideas behind the movie were really too out there for the special effects of the time.

"Day of the Triffids" would be interesting, today, as well, in light of current environmental issues.

I hated the ending of the abyss. It was all, oh yeah btw, ALIENS! Yeah! Sure! Almost forgot about them seeing as the tension in the movie had nothing to do with the damn aliens. Ah well it was a kick ass movie otherwise.

If it's gotta be from the 80s, they should definitely reboot Gremlins. Sure it was slightly irreverant back then, but imagine how truly distasteful it could be now!

I think they should avoid sullying classic films- better to do remakes of films that didn't work so well the first time. Or (gasp!) something new.

fair enough. although in the case of star trek, the 80s films wernet half bad. But the last couple star trek films with the next generation crew were absolute crap fests, especially nemesis

So, the obvious movie to be rebooted is.. Dune!

Lol good choice.

Don't think you'll find many producers who would take it on though.

In no particular order:

The Abyss
Big Trouble in Little China (I'd LOVE to see this!)
Barbarella
Krull
Time Bandits
Weird Science
Critters
C.H.U.D.
The Good, Bad and the Ugly (I know it's classic but I'd still like to see it...maybe a Tarantino remake)

I'll add to the list more as they come to me....

omfg!! what?? remake Big Trouble in Little China?!?!?!?!?!?

some of these movies are awesome for the sheer cheesiness and acting...THAT one especially!

i do however admit, seeing that storyline done today would be pretty cool. i still stand by my, "no wai guyz!!" on remaking it howeva.

Five more years, man. October 2015. That's when Marty and Doc Brown will arrive here in the Delorean, so they will HAVE to have them by then. I mean, how else could they have made that movie, otherwise?

True, it did have a certain je ne sais quois....

Another movie that is classic cheese but I wouldn't mind seeing a remake of is They Live! If they get on it now they still might be able to cast Rowdy Roddy in the lead role.
