Lol I was wondering who was going to say it.

Not completely hosed, but still a pretty expensive machine for those specs.

Hey, dumb-ass - I had my MacBook Pro for 4 1/2 years. It recently has fallen square on my wooden floor from my bed 3 times in the last 4 months. That did nothing, until I spilled and immediately wiped off a very small amount of beer from the left side. Then my 4 1/2 year old Mac started to freeze and became untrustworthy.

Got it now?

Really, I would love a link to Dell/ hell or something, showing me a similar spec machine (probably $200 less if that- no thanks). This is the best laptop out their, period.

I got it because it should last around 6 years.

POWER - 4 processors! F-U.

Oh, and 9 hour battery life.

Did you even read the specs? Find me something so well designed worth the money?

You can't

Oh, and I used Migration Assistant and everything is exactly as it was on my old MBP (e.g., through TimeMachine). Setting, programs, everything is the same except this MBP is insanely FAST at EVERYTHING. This is why Macs are so painless.

i7 goodness! ! !

^ Not to mention the i5's have better performance ratings by third party studies than the i7's anyway.

This is currently the highest production laptop available:

Don't let the 1.73 ghz speed fool you, that's the average but it maxes to 2.93 without overclocking.

TOSHIBA Qosmio X505-Q890

$1,899.99

Core i7 740QM (1.73-2.93GHz) [Apple only gives you the max rating]

18.4" 1920 x 1080 anti-glare

64GB Serial ATA solid state drive
500GB (7200 RPM) Serial ATA hard disk drive
TOSHIBA Hard Drive Impact Sensor (3D sensor)

NVIDIA GeForce GTS 360M 1GB GDDR5

6GB DDR3 RAM [expandable to 8 gb]

Blu-Ray/DVDR combo drive

The only advantage you have is the battery life, which is why I said you didn't get completely hosed. All the memory is replaceable/expandable as well as the optical drives. My high end laptops have lasted 6+ years and the only reason they fizzled were the power supplies giving out [also replaceable].

I'm glad you're happy with your purchase, but just don't brag that Apple products are the best on the market.

For what it's worth you can buy a faster, more powerful, better equipped Alienware laptop, with Bluray, for less money than that Apple. But it's not covered in polished aluminium, so it's not "so well designed" i guess...

It's your cash, so more power to you for buying something you enjoy, just at least recognise the fact that you're buying it for it's shiny polished trendy look, rather than it's technical performance.

ETA: Boo, beaten by Komp.

The Alienware will be twice as thick and heavy. Sorry I'm not a kiddy gamer, but if I was, I would still be able to kick your ass.

Laptops and think of design. Pick up s MBP and just then you will see you get what you pay for.
