My buddy loaned it to me on DVD like 7 or 8 years ago when my mom first got a DVD player(she was a slow adopter). He had rented it from Blockbuster and I loved it so much I hid it in my room and claimed some kid stole it from my house when he came over to chill.
I felt bad, but it was so good.

Akira was an awesome flick. I first saw it at the local library of all places. The part in the institution where all the toys...mutate/come alive(?) was pretty trippy and surreal. Tetsuo was the shit for realz.

I thought this thread was about Akira Kurosawa.

Perfect Blue was a mind melt. That one had me questioning what was real at the end. It didn't help that I was shrooming at 2am though.

Yōjirō Takita's - When the last sword is drawn is my favorite movie ever, it parallels the style of Kurosawa....

This video was actually the first thing related to Akira I'd ever seen. At the time I was really into DBZ and AMV's and happened upon it. Even with the spoilers, I had no idea of the context, so it didn't ruin my first actual viewing. I still enjoy it to this day!
