sound crackling in windows 7?

My sound crackles and it's driving me nuts.

I got good speakers, baller headphones and I can't even enjoy music, it's effin' crazy!!!

How can I find out what kind of sound card I got on my computer?
Would it be a driver issue? What should I do?

You mean crackling like a candy wrapper? Or Breaks in the music?

I can't help with either... but am unsure, if maybe I have the same concern.

Look around in My Computer for Device Manager, I know in winxp it's in the hardware tab, never messed with 7 though. And then just get the drivers from the manufacturer's website and re-install it.

If you can't find a device manager, you can download Speccy, for free.

i had the same problem, my soundcard apparently wasnt designed to be compatible with 7 so it was doing some weird shit like that.

i eventually fixed it by uninstalling the sound card drivers and then going to the website of the sound card to download some new windows 7 special drivers for legacy audio cards (old unsuported ones) but i still never got the recording part of my sound card to work, but the audio and speakers worked fine after that.

...if u really cant get it to work just buy a new cheap sound card thats win 7 compatible or even a usb plug in sound card will work and its much easier to install..

I have the same problem, with MP3s skipping, for lack of a better word. Pisses me off to no end, I didn't even know that was possible.

Constantly (and completely unwarranted) being a dick to certain members, taking harassment too far(i.e. outside of FFA and onto visitor messages). If I'm not mistaken it's just for the day, but if it continues he'll probably be going away for a while.

Seriously, if I wanted to I could just throw the next gay guy I come across right up against a wall and give him an anal assault and he wouldn't complain one bit.

1. Right click "my Computer"
2. click "Manage"
3. under system tools click "Device Manager"
4. expand "sound, video and game controllers"
5. post further questions in this thread and I'll help where I can.
6. profit

Does your PC have on board sound as well as a sound card?
If you cant answer that take a pic of the back of your PC and post it here.

thanks for your reply i totally forgot about this thread but it has just gotten completely unbearable..
it says I have conexant cx20671 smartaudio hd and that it's drivers are up to date

another thing i noticed is that it only happens online when im streaming stuff, like youtube, grooveshark and if i pause or mute the video let the whole thing load then it doesn't do that stuttering?

i checked my device manager and firefox is the biggest thing there 30K or something nothing outta the norm

and i have a decent laptop with extra high speed internet??
4.1 windows experience index rating
amd athlon II p320 dual core processor 2.10ghz
4gb ram
64 bit

so what gives?

did u ever try to download a new driver for your soundcard? that solved this exact same problem for me. just download a new windows 7 version of your soundcards drivers. or uninstall them from device manager and then let it discover the device and chose a generic one. that fixed this exact same problem for me.
