Most memorable moments in video game history.

What are your most memorable moments in video game history? Whether it be experiences you've had playing a game yourself, with friends, or even moments in history that've had to do with video games in general (like when rock star had to redistribute a new version of san andreas during the hot coffe incident).

I can think of plenty, but I'll get the ball rolling with just one:

I am 15, playing counter strike with two friends. We have a 3-way conference call going on so we can all communicate. We've been spending at least an hour going back and forth between terrorists and counter terrorists and a rivalry has been building between us and the team we are playing against. This round is very important. We have to win this round.

The three of us are in a dark corridor, on which map I no longer remember. The enemy team comes in hard and kills both my friends before I even know what's really happening and I run and hide behind a box. The enemy doesn't notice me and they start filing out of the room.

I spring out from my hiding place, peek out into the hallway, and annihilate all four of them with a single clip of my SPAS shotgun in an awesome spectacle of WIN.

Ah, it was great and I still remember it vividly.

My dad and I played the Syhpon Filter demo, the first level, for a month, every day, doing time trials. One day I came home from school and he was playing; he handed me the controller and I flew through the level, but it didnt end there It went to the second level! He bought the game! thats sounds lame now that i wrote it out but it was cool then. Also playing Rainbow Six for the first time on my 56k modem was pimp

Tassadar sacrificing himself to destroy the Overmind in Starcraft I. I was so young, and too see such heroism was inspiring to me

The Nuke mission in Modern Warfare... damn near had me frozen in shock. The first MW2 mission would have had more of an impact if it wasn't so damn publicized.

Logging in and creating my first char in an MMO, which was Asherons Call. Running around and seeing other people playing in the same world as me was fascinating. Seeing level capped players while I'm at below level 10 was mind blowing.

Even before that I remember playing street fighter on I guess Super Nintendo, not sure, but I couldn't have been older than 7. I remember taking turns at a neighbor kids house being in love with what this little box was capable of.

Jump ahead to css days.. Quite a few nerve racking moments in my league play adventures. To keep it short, one of the more stand outish moments would be the last round of the last match of the season to make it into playoffs. My team, or the opponents would make it, we were up by 1 round so if we won the round we go, if they win its OT. I''m defending my site where the other team must plant or kill us all, I kill 1 guy get the bomb down, rest of my team dies, its a 1v4. I kill them all and we go on to playoffs only to advance to one of the highest leagues you can play in.

-first time i played unreal tourny at my friends house, that was when i decided to switch from consoles to PC for gaming

- first time i played an FPS online, it was medal of honor: allied assault. i knew nothing about online gaming or league gaming, my first 'clan' was a realism clan (mohaa had 2 ladders- realism and regular) who competed on OGL. (online gaming league)

- first time i used a headset to talk to other people online in my mohaa days. i was literally scared to say anything.

- when i got really fucking good at games, was my call of duty 1 days. when that game cam out for PC a huge competitive community sprung up around it to the point where it was a featured game at one of the cpl's (cyberathletic professional league- a huge LAN/competition) but i wasnt able to go due to being too young. i was on a top 10 team at the time though and if we had gone we easily would have placed.

- after cod2 came out and the series went to shit i pretty much stopped competitive play and got an actual real life, which was a very memorable moment in my video game history. playing FPS games for 6+ hours a day got old anyway.

lol waves I played competitive CSS for way to long, after a while though you only need a good 2 hour session a few nights out of the week to be good. I played with the same group for many seasons. Had great times.

I could not pick enough of those moments watching them develop and then playing video games over 3 decades.

-Atari-Missile Command to start
-Vic 20
-Texas Instruments TI-99-Hunt The Wumpus
-Colecovision-Venture, and the Donkey Kong Series
-Intellivision-Microsurgeon was a great game, Snafu, too.
-Sega Master System which was the first 8 bit console I had.
-And pretty much every gaming platform since then

I am waiting for the Warehouse filled with some intricate gaming arena that you enter via a virtual suit and goggles. Put them on you're in the game, physically running down a hallway, or hiding around the corner...It's coming.

yeah i just get sucked into the whole thing too easy. i cant scrim for just 2 hours i go alll night and shit like that.

it is a great experience to have when it comes to building relationships and working with others. i learned more over my 3 years of gaming hard than i do at most college classes. street knowledge though, you know.

yea league play is pretty dead these days, after CAL and CPL, and that league that actually had a salary for there players, forget the name, died it pretty much went to shit.

Theres still CEVO and ESEA but cheating is pretty rampant these days, and MLG is gay being mostly console.

Don't really see how PC competitive gaming will make a comeback. DOD, CS, and CSS are really the only worthy games of competition play.

The first time me and my buddy flew a bomber in Tribes 2.

We played a lot of the original tribes together and were totally stoked for the sequel. It came out in october i think, anyway we're playing for our first time and we know there's new vehicles. We spawn a bomber and hop in, he the driver, me in the bomber position.

I will never forget the 1st time flying over the enemy base and blanketing it in a shower of bombs. The distinct whistle of the bombs falling from the atmosphere, the even more distinct and terrible sound of a missle lock. Us bailing at the last second and jetpacking down to safety as we watch our bomber lose control, hit the edge of the a mountain, flip over, and explode in a mass of a flame and debris.

Awesome stuff.

rainbow six:rogue spear was my first online fps, it was mad fun when you could find a non-laggy game
4 player multiplayer on goldeneye 64 at lunch in grade 9 and 10 almost everyday at my bud's house.
staying up late chugging mad pepsis while battling my friend at ken griffey jr. slugfest for snes.
playing nhl95 for many hours at a time, i'd basically never loose because you can score at will by cutting across the net and shooting.
