Microsoft Kinect
Anyone tried it yet? I know it's only been out for a day, but my buddy happened to snag the last one at the store last night and us plus one other friend played it for about 5 hours straight.
Most fun I've had playing vids in a long time! It was MUCH more responsive then I thought it would be and the games are fun as hell. We were straight up gassed by the end of the marathon!

Seems okay, though it has been reported to have trouble detecting black/dark colors, which apparently many black people are complaining about.
All the motion games seem fun [Wii, PS Move, Kinect], but so far i've yet to see a game that has a lot of replay to it. They all seem to fizzle after a little while, but it's fun while it lasts.

But have you personally played it? Reviews and critics aside, what do you personally think?

I have the Move, which initially my friends and I had similar reactions to yours.
Not so much anymore.

Move isn't the Kinect.
...To put things rather bluntly.

I haven't tried either the kinect or the move, or even the wii for that matter, but I get the impression the move is the best of the bunch.
But since I haven't tried any of them, and also since I know I'll never buy any of them (i'd get a wii but FUCK not even 720p, GOFUCKADIAMONDDILDO) I think my opinion means as much as my presence in this thread, which is this: FUCKIN RIGHTEOUS

Haven't tried either the Move or the Kinect. My sisters have a Wii and I very rarely play it.
Personally I think these motion things are all hype and no real function right now; I'm probably not even going to purchase one until at least the second generation or maybe third. If one of them prove themselves to be completely awesome on the first run I might, but honestly I doubt it. With Augmented Reality becoming a reality though these have the potential to be absolutely amazing though.

the lack of precision really fucking bothers me. ya sure its plenty accurate for moving your hand in front of beachball but anything complicated cant be done with cheap technology still (and yes this tech is cheap) . which means games will just stay simple and get boring after a couple hours. menus are already tedious as fuck in most games. when the game lags while im swipping thru shit to change it and i ahve to swipe it back over and over it gets really fuckking old. id rather just use the xbox dvd remote control or a regular controller. once neflix gets implemented (wtf is it already, that was the coolest selling point i thought) i guarentee it will suck balls because it already lags like crazy and locks up when u scroll a page at a time.
it could have been decent but they scaled back the technological capabilites a shit load from when i first heard about/saw it that im completely unimpressed. i guess being able to manufacture it for pennies and make 10 million copies of it is only thing that matters with the technology. they could have used much stronger cameras/microphones but decided to go with shit ass cheap ones to be more profitable. you cant play with the lights off. if your clothes are the same color as your couch or carpet it has issues. if your lights are too bright it messes up. your supposed to be 10 feet away from it for opitmal effect. etc etc. none of these things would be issues if they wanted to be focused on quality parts but they werent focused on that at all. and never will be. maybe someone will put the tech to good use and blow my mind with a good game. but im definatly not expecting it. wii has pretty much proven that its all a gimmick since they have had 5 years to develop the games and 99% of it is still shovelware and even if its a decent game the motion controls rarely add anything that a controller couldnt improve on.

Ive gotten the impression that its not as good as its supposed to be, pretty much what fourtysecond said. I personally cannot even own it as my living room doesn't have 6 fucking feet of free space back from the tv minimum.... that shitacular.
if it didn't have that massive downside to it, needing so much goddamn space, I probably would have bought it. I got the ps move, and I dont have any space problems. really works well, and playing MAG with the controllers is pretty damn awesome I've got to say.

Mrs HTAM blindsided me with the Kinect Pack (250G HDD), COD, and an extra controller.
I just beat the shit out of myself playing rally ball for like an hour. We have a great game space and a 32" LCD to play on with 5.1 HT Audio to boot. I dig the Kinect. Can't wait to Box on it. ![]() Also, I find I can only play COD in 45-60 minute spurts. Total chaos in 5.1 shakes my senses. |

I d'ld Fruit Ninja Kinect.
![]() It even responds to your kicks, so if you have any MA experience you'll enjoy this even more. There are several modes to choose from including multiplayer when you can compete together, or against each other, at the same time. Your silhouette(s) show on the screen which makes the game play even more immersive as you slice yourself into Zen. Combos will come easy to you if you can 'find the line' to slice several pieces of fruit with a single swipe. Add to that unlockable 'blades' of different colours and elements, along with customizable backrounds, and you have a GREAT Kinect Game for $10 from XBL. You should probably get some kind of fan going for a breeze when you play, though. You'll get a workout. And, some very quick hands if you play regularly. -Bruce LeRoy |

Dear Microsoft and Twinkee Stick Boy,
This 'Rancor Rampage' is latest Kinect Star Wars minigame reveal | Joystiq sounds great. You know what else sounds great? A complete reboot of the original Rampage. But, what would REALLY be shiny is a Godzilla game. Thank you, -Waiting to throw a bus |

Kinect Sports Season 2 is a blast.
Golf by itself is worth buying the game for. The thrill of an Eagle is far more exciting when it feels like your swing put the ball in the cup. Super responsive to your motion. Add Tennis into it, and now you have 2 great virtual sports to play in motion instead of on your ass with pressing buttons on a controller. Skiing. Win. Racing down the hill and making every gate along with landing well timed jumps. You crouch, you speed up. You spread your feet like you would cutting a corner, you make the corner. ![]() The rest of the game? Go get the damn game.
