the rock band 3 review that nobody cares about...
yea yea i know, but people in my real life care even less about rock band than yahooka
so here it is...for a while i was put off by this game, and now that i bought it (for 29.99 i might add, 20 bucks off and its only been out 2 months -nice deal!) i realize that the reason i was put off by it was because of the CRAPPY WAY HARMONIX ADVERTISED THIS GAME... and not the game itself, which is actually fucking awesome. a few points- harmonix instead of doing what most of its regular players with like hundrerds of dlcs wanted- which was to make an updated version of the SAME game with new fixes etc, instead they made it seem like the main focus of this game was the new keyboard peripheral and the pro drum and pro guitar mode- which required new expensive controllers to use (the guitar is like 300 bucks and its crazy like a hybrid controller and guitar that actually plugs into an amp)... all that sounds kinda cool, but the main reason i like rock band is to play the songs i downloaded and enjoy.... so what i realized when i finally bought this was that they pro mode is really only a small addition to the game and the vast majority of it is exactly what i wanted all along- it has an improved import system, it lets u import all your old dlc from rock band 2, (which was my main concern) and it even lets me add the songs from green day rock band which if anyone knows me they have heard me complain about wanting to do that for months... so i was reading how this game had such low sales and i think its because harmonix tried to make it seem like you would need all new controllers and shit to play this- actually for 30 bucks i got a brand new souped up and easier to use and sleeker looking interface for all the rock band songs i already had.... and it makes it easier to play them without switching games etc... the pro mode is something that u can add later... but u definately dont have to- u dont even have to buy the more expensive pro mode dlc u can just buy the regular mode one for the same price as always. so why didnt rock band being such a huge company figure out what its main demographic wanted and advertise that that was what it was getting... now that i finally played it and see how awesome it is- contrary to my fears, i now fear that harmonix a company ive loved since the rhytm games it made for the ps2 like 15 years ago, im worried that the low ratings will mean this game is the last one in the series... hopefully more and more people will have the same experience I did. and towards that end, i made this thread .... so if you were on the fence about rb3 (is there really a huge demo here or am i crazy ) then please GET IT!harmonix was really stupid with the advertising for this game- the game came out right as they released a bunch of good dlc for the old game which made people not need to buy it right away, and then 2 months later when people might have bought it because all the new dlc was comming out only on the new game they could have sold it for 50 bucks and i would have easily paid that... but for some reason they already chopped it to 30 so they end up probably losing money rather than just waiting for their market to realize the game is out and get it. damn....lots of words for a simple point.

I don't like rockband, I don't like the note shapes. They should've stopped making rockbands after Guitar Hero came out with drums and singing. I'm always the singer, seeing as all my friends play every song on expert on all of the instruments and I can't, I can sing on hard though

Problem is, the corresponding Guitar Hero's, even with drum and voice peripherals, sucks monkey balls. Rockband stole the franchise and actually did something with it.

nah dude but seriously i just checked out that pro controller, and then the actual squier strat thats a real guitar but also a controller. pretty sick.
i'd definitely play that game, but honestly it's just a simulation of the real thing , getting more and more realistic lol... might as well just skip all the suspense and play a real guitar
