recommend a horror film

I'm kind of a horror buff but it's so rare to find an honest horror film that doesn't try too hard. I think when it comes to horror it's best to keep it simple and traditional.

House of the Devil
This is the perfect horror film IMO. It's about a babysitter, in a haunted house, abducted by a satanic cult. To top it off it's stylized in an 80's fashion; the golden age of horror.

Dead End
This is another one that is simple and effective. A family gets lost on a never ending road and along the way they're killed one by one. The twist is that it's a funny movie too, so many good one liners and a good use of props.

Blair Witch Project
Everyone has heard of this one, but I think that few people can actually remember much about the movie, except for a few scattered images. Go back and watch it and you'll see that the acting is amazing and the despair of being lost in the forrest is felt so real. very realistic.

Jacobs Ladder
This one is much more complex, but it is undoubtedly freaky. There is such a wide range of scary scenes that it makes the movie feel like one long nightmare. And the fact is that it's not all CGI bullcrap, it's just good old fashioned camera tricks, make up, costumes and build up.

This genre has become a joke. They just use retarded startles and blood porn. Movies aren't scary anymore. Rob Zombie seems to be, for whatever reason, the only "legit" name in horror movies, even though he's a terrible hack.

The original version of The Hills Have Eyes is pimp.

I recommend that.

Or if silent film is your thing, you can watch the original horror movie, Nosferatu. Its like counterfeit Dracula.

Not technically horror, but Soylent Green might be of interest to people that like horror.

Its a dystopian future.

That is somewhat close.

Also, I quite enjoyed the Blair Witch Project. One of the best of the genre.

That is a great movie. orders of magnitude better than the 15/20 minutes of the Will Smith atrocity that I managed to get though.

Moth Man Prophecies was good shit.

I'm not sure it's 100% horror, but it's suspenseful as I've ever watched and plenty of murdering-weird-good times.

I'd call that more of a psychological thriller with horror elements.

Its pretty good.

I'd agree that's about right.

What you don't see is sometimes WAY crazier than what you do...
I like suspense.

Alfred Hitchcock was good at that shit....

And for that same reason, it's why I liked some of the M. Night Shyamalan's films like 'Signs' and 'The Village'.

Sort of had that 'Blair Witch' ""WHERE THE FUCK IS IT!!!!???"" feel.

I saw the Hills Have Eyes on shrooms at the theater and I could hardly bear to look at it, it was so grusome.

Just watched the remake of I Spit On Your Grave... I thought it was going to suck badly and it was actually mildly entertaining. Not at all as low budget or poorly shot as I thought it was going to be.

I spit on your grave is nothing more than a glorified rape picture for the first half, and a sick vengeance movie the 2nd...

It's like they had a bunch of rapists write the first half and a rape victim write the second half...

And yes i know it is a remake, but one that never should have been made...

I was at Blockbuster today and I noticed this one, End of the Line. I passed on it this time around but I think I'm gonna rent it tomorrow. The storyline sounded good and the cover featured many high praises from various sources, including Fangoria. I'm looking forward to it.

Oh BTW if anyone wants to see the most fucked up serial killer movie ever it's this one. Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. It's a true story and it's one of the most uncomfortable films I've ever watched. In my book it counts as horror.

My favorite horror movie. Scared the absolute shit out of me when I saw it the 1st time when I was 11. It's like... hellraiser in space.
