My impressions so far:

- pretty much exactly like WoW and LOTR online as far as I can tell in the gameplay department

- story cutscenes are YAY. the lack of this was the main reason I stopped playing WoW. I felt NO connection, or even an awareness of that game's story, despite the gameplay itself being enjoyable

- NPCs in the world are kinda lame. they just stand there in weird poses and do nothing...it's awkward

I'd probably be disappointed if I played MMORPGs a lot, but I've only played WoW for about 3 months and LOTR and D&D for about that same amount of time, and haven't played one for some time so this still feels like fun.

If you want a game with connection to the story and character, this is probably the best MMO that you could choose. Its basically a single-player experience that you can play with other people. The sense of actually developing your character through your choices is pretty epic in comparison with other MMOs. If you want to be an Imperial who is good, you can be that. If you want to be a Jedi who is an asshole, you can be that.

can you hack people's limbs off with lightsabers? im not playing another star wars game until using a lightsaber feel like using a lightsaber rather than a soggy nerf stick that couldnt cut warm butter.

You need to swoosh the lightsaber around enough in this game to like, warm it up or something. It starts off as chilly but the more you swipe it around the hotter it gets.

hmm. On the topic of 'gametime' I do believe that we should have the option of buying on an hourly basis instead of months if we choose to.

heh what a strange bug. that one character is a miniature in every cutscene. In council room she basically disappears inside the chair and the camera looks at this empty, talking chair. Pretty funny actually.

I am LEVEL 5! WOO HOO! Flying 40 feet through the air doing an aerial somersault with a lightsaber is pretty coo

what good is it though if the most important part of any non-space sim star wars game is left out? what goes through your head when you do a jumping slice, from a running start at someone with a lightsaber, and clearly see the blade go right through them, and they only take a few hitpoints of damage and keep fighting back at you with a little blaster?

"yep this here is exactly what lightsaber combat should be like"

this is what ruined kotor for me, i had to force myself to finish just for the story.

the only game that got this right was that jedi academy one where you play as kyle catarn, and even then you had to use a console command to enable proper lightsaber fighting. like what the fuck?

Its a fucking videogame.

They make tons of star wars games all the time, im sure you will get a good lightsaber battling game sooner or later.

True light saber physics aren't conducive to traditional RPG gameplay, it's as simple as that.
