It looks incredible. I really wish my computer could handle it. If this thing was out back when I was 12 or 13 I would've surely been shitting myself with glee.

These sorts of games are real games imo.

you have a few options. the series has been going for awhile so you can pick up one of the earlier ones which are just as good imo.

Anno 1503 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Anno 1701 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

the gameplay is pretty similiar with minor updates throughout the series. its mostly been graphical updates though, besides the huge change in the most recent one.

i highly recommend these games i had more fun with them than the other strategy series like total war and simcity and stuff.

Never played Anno because I'm more of into RTS games where you can build armies and crush your enemies. However I hear the new one has actually added armies, so it may be worth a look.

Give us a little more of your thoughts on it Waves?

played a bunch last night and had a blast. its a nice balance between adding new stuff and being complicated and stickign to the formula that works.

Anno 2070 for PC Reviews, Ratings, Credits, and More at Metacritic

games been getting good reviews, check this series out if you havent!

its one of those games you play for 6 hours and you go "woah wtf where did the time go"

its 3/4 City Building, 1/4 RTS. If you enjoy building towns and balancing economies these are the games for you. you generally start out on a single island of a large multi-island map. you then have to build your city and start mining and producing resources. after the basics are done you start to attract higher quality citizens who can do higher quality work. as your city evolves you can produce more resources, branch out and populate more islands, engage in warfare with other settled islands and take them over, etc.

the real meat and bones of the game to me though is the empire building. its great fun to start out from scratch and build a multi-island empire. its halfways between the complexity of "sim city" and the economy balancing of a game like "patrician 4" because each citizens requires a certain amount of resources that you have to produce and some islands require you to get really complex with trade routes exporting and importing shit.

personally i give the series a 10/10 and this game a 9/10. but like i said im a strategy game geek. i love games like the caeser series and all that stuff.

Its more simcity than civilization. I mainly bring up civ cuz its known as some of the best gamecrack around. Personally i dont like the series that much either.

You actually build individual cities and lay the roads and houses down. The city building is like a traditional rts like starcraft but way more in-depth. Combat is real time. The entire game is real time actually.

If you enjoy sim city but hate having to go through all the charts and numbers stuff youll love it. If you enjoy the base building aspect of rts games you will love it. Cant really describe it much more than that. Imagine starcraft with the focus on economy as opposed to warfare.

Check out an anno gameplay vid on youtube and youll get the gist. I really love the flow of the game myself.

Personally i put civ at like a 6 and anno at a 10.
