Lost : For those who previously didn't give a shit about the Bearsy / Hurley Look alike running gag

So I have been hearing about that fucking show Lost for years now. Didn't realize it had been on for over half a decade, though.

I had never really seen an episode. All I knew was that it was about a bald guy, a crying doctor, a fat guy and a mysterious island.

After getting an apple tv I started watching up through half of season 5 on netflix. Despite some corny dialogue and occasionally laughable acting, this show is almost fucking awesome.

Seasons 1-3 are brilliant, season 4 sucks ass. Season 5 returns to form. I dunno what the fuck is going to happen next.

But I had this preconditioned beleif that Jon Locke was going to be the best character because of the dudes interwebz hype. He starts off like a total badass :

but gets shit on by the true badass of this show. Ben Linus.

Anyway, I'm stoneggnogged. Never bothered to look up "lost" theories before, and now that I'm into the show I refuse to look up any information until I finish it.

So this post is for those who, like me, thought this retarded abc or nbc whatever show was fuckin dumb. I had sat through a couple episodes out of context at a girls house years ago and I remembered 7 minutes fucking commercial breaks.

Watch it on netflix with a display port, it's great pot smoking material.

I watched the first three seasons on DVD then was like 'wtf this show has gone off the rails' and quit because I didn't want to pay to rent it.

Then I got Netflix and had finished some other series and decided to start over, and I watched them all in a pretty quick amount of time and I must say overall I think it's a good show but that the writers often dug holes for themselves with the constant plot twists.

Anyways tell me when you finish so I can give you my most WTF sadface moment (which comes in the last season).

I'm embarrassed to be addicted to this show........

I'm going to slowly watch this last 1.5 seasons so it doesn't run out.

I wouldn't be embarrassed man. It's entertaining, and that's what good TV is supposed to be.

I have the first three seasons on dvd (son got me into it.)

by the end of season 3, I was also like, these writers have no idea where they're going with this...and haven't watched any later shows.

Fuck Lost, I invested years of my life into that shit and the ending was a load of shite. It really pissed me off.
They dug themselves into a hole they couldnt write their way out of.

Still my favorite show to this day. I was one of those people who didnt really care how it all ended, i just loved watching the journey. They could have sent them all to the moon and i would have been fine with it.

To me the show was about questions, not answers. It was about the mystery. Nothing they could have done could have made everyone happy. I had more fun questioning the plot and exploring the mythology and the possibilities than I did watching the actual final season.

To me that is the great success of Lost, they kept you asking questions, wanting to know more. That and the writing was Grade A quality.

Enjoy that shit your first time through, its a once in a lifetime experience.

To the last season haters- I can understand your frustration but still, has any show ever come close to Lost in terms of getting you interested, watching every week, etc? Thats the main goal of a show, story cohesiveness is often second to getting people hooked on the characters and atmosphere.

so I'm up to the part where John Locke is walking around the jungle [as an imitation or possessed by the smoke?], sitting in a wheelchair substitute teaching and about to marry peg from married with children, and being buried on the beach simultaneously.

then that random pilot character they introduced season 4 turns to the camera and finally contributes something to the show: "This is the weirdest damn funeral I've ever been to." Shit had me laughing.

But seriously, where the fuck can they go from here, they have no plan, do they?

I'll leave that for you to decide. Like mentioned, there are a lot of threads that are left hanging at series end, and as with any show, people either love or hate the finale.

Sounds like you're almost done bro, you getting sad?

Theyve said from the beginning that they had a beginning and an ending, how they got there was the thing that kept changing. I dont get how people dont understand that simple fact. I guess cuz the show was a mystery show and the very premise was to keep you confused and asking questions people would just rather believe they were making shit up as they went.

typical lost hi-jinx going on

then I see Mac from always sunny making a second appearance and I exhaled into the vape and couldn't stop laughing; now the house smells like weed.

Mac gets shot dead before successfully performing an ocular patdown on the entire perimeter.

the-who.. I'm doing exactly the same.. watched seasons 1-5 in a month! Now onto series 6. This shit is crazy. I agree.. season 4 was balls. I too will wait to read up anything until I've finished it all. I was reluctant to come into this thread in case something was given away.. after all it was started in like 2005 or something!

The end was entirely way to predictable, but I did like the execution...

With as much symbolism and forshadowing as they packed into the show it is hard to miss what the Island really is...
