The Voice
I normally hate reality shows, but those based on talent I guess I can give a pass to.
Unlike American Idol, the four judges have proven themselves as musicians, and their choices [singer and judge] kinda seem interesting. Seems more like a game show than a reality show.

I don't usually watch singing competition type shows because most if not all of my favorite artists (Joanna Newsom, Pavement, Lambchop) are singers many consider 'bad' or at least 'not the norm'. So I kinda feel I don't really know what makes a good Voice per se, I just know what I like.
Any cool contestants there are videos of by chance?

Angel Taylor's cover of 'Someone Like You' seems like a strong contender.
Then again, I do love a strong female voice.

Never watched it until I caught this seasons premiere and I've gotta admit it was way better than I thought it'd be. Not good enough to make me make it a point to watch it, but a lot better than I'd have thought.

I like this show. american idol sucks..theres always a life story prior to an audition..even when they dont make it...they never show the freaks anymoe..its boring and full of whining and fainting..completely annoying. The Voice is good because its too the point..and you are routing for them to turn their chairs.."like a game show" which is somewhat interactive t.v.and you watch the famous people fight over the regular people....regular people with talent.

TV2 recently bought the "The Voice" format.
Between that and X factor, The Voice seems like the weaker format. I think its partially because they've chosen their artists poorly. It also seems like theres a lot more emotional porn in The Voice. That being said I don't watch either regularly.

the commercials advertise it as being even gayer and more saturated with bullshit than american idol.

I think it'sa hoot. Little gay guy with more ink than ass, alligator armed Black Mike Meyers imitator, fat bitch with nice tittes that don't know how to dress that fat azz, and the big hillbilly that looks like he'd just as soon shoot or strangle 'em all.
I enjoy the good singers, don't need to hear the epic fails, and listening to the blonde act like herself just depresses me - til I start to contemplate her with Whitney's pipe in her hole. Unfamiliar with the show and format. I'm sure they'll fuck it up with this team thing as the celebs use and abuse the wannabe's to satiate their own narcissistic bullshit. Hey Ter... FWIW, I thought Neil Young, Dr. John and Lou Reed had cool voices. Joe Cocker and Dylan didn't do too bad for themselves either.
