no you can actually buy a mouse and keyboard for consoles, you dont have to play against pc gamers to get raped. consoles just suck for FPS in general. consoles just suck in general actually, every game is some dumbed down AAA sequel that doesnt live up to its predecessor but will make millions anyway cuz people are stupid. theres no depth to console gaming. its for kids and bitches. console gaming is killing gaming and innovation within the gaming industry in my serious opinion.

but i guess if you're happy playing the 20th sequel to Halo again or the 14th installment of Black Ops and you are that dumb to be content with such retarded games, by all means go have fun in your cute lil console world.

sry that came out a bit aggressive didnt it

im just very sad about the current state of the industry. for the past few weeks ive been thinking that my lack of desire to play games had something to do with me. but im realizing there are just really no good games being released anymore. im going back to old favorites at this point cuz all the new shit is bunk

Cool opinion bro...and I agree with you in most respects, I skipped over Black Ops 1 and Modern Warfare 3 if that makes any difference, they are the same game, just new maps and new guns, I won't deny that, it takes nothing but a quick trigger finger to have a decent K/D ratio...do you think I don't realize this?

Halo 4 however actually is quite different from its predecessors for the record.

I play these simple games because they are easy, laid back and fun...if I want to play a game that requires team play or for you to pay attention I'll go play Forza, AC3 or Ghost Recon.

Now, I don't know shit about PC gaming, the most I've ever done is the 75 days I accumulated on my Warlock in WoW. But I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that there are PC franchise's that do the same thing as a lot of the console franchise's.

Although I play FPS games I'm more of a TPS and racing kinda guy...and no I don't mean Need for Speed, I mean Forza. You could've atleast asked what kind of games I play before going off on a wild tangent about FPS games and assuming I'm in love with them.

And I feel your pain dude, games are losing their lustre, because a lot of the news ones are clones of the last one.

yeah its an industry wide problem like i said...im not trying to bash you im just lamenting my problems with the industry as a whole. i really have no problem with console vs pc. i think theres room for all of us. but i am really really saddened by the lack of innovation lately. as someone who loves all kinds of games, genuinely, from FPS to strategy to racing games to everything, it sucks that the only big titles to come out are just dumbed down sequels. and in MMOs they have been making the same game now for almost 2 decades.

As someone who lived through and experienced amazing innovation in pc gaming in the past, (i was around when EQ came out and to be around at the start of the 3d MMO genre was awesome, i was around when rollercoaster tycoon came out, etc. all these amazing innovative games that defined future genres but have now become cookie cutter) it just sucks to live through such non-creative times.

News: Top-selling console games of 2012 revealed for Europe, US and Japan - ComputerAndVideoGame s.com

I think every top game last year was a sequel. Just like the movie industry. Its so lame. Just the same cookie cutter shit year after year. When will people stop buying this shit is what I want to know.

The one bastion of hope right now is in Indie gaming

It seems we have found a common ground, now if you'll excuse me I've got a date with Mary Jane and NHL 13.

It seems people go with what they know and trust, we are losing our thirst for adventure, why buy a game from a new franchise when you can get the new Halo or whatever and know that you will enjoy it...I mean what if Jim and Tim's Adventure into Space is a terrible game and now I can't afford Halo? Fuck dat shit.

sigh...i gotta break out the ugly stick for this one.

if you think a single person can create a video game that is on the same level as AAA titles made by hundreds of people all with different degrees in different fields which require years of study each you are silly.

like i said, indie gaming is the one bastion of hope right now. but even in this field its only infantile and only a tiny tiny fraction of the indy games made are on the same level as AAA titles. and these indie titles are all made by multiple people all with different educational backgrounds in different subjects related to game design.

the situation in the gaming world is complex and has multiple influences all happening, but you dont have to look to far to see that theres not much innovation because AAA studios do not take risks and make only games they know will sell. its the same thing thats happening with the movie industry right now, in that studios are only willing to finance huge titles that they know will sell. they do not want to take financial risks right now in this economy. same thing is happening with AAA games. it costs way too much money to make a AAA title that is going to end up LOSING money on the market. So they go with whats safe, and that right now is stuff like CoD and Halo.

beyond that, i dont have the time in my life to take time from actually making money and surviving to create video games. i would love to, dont get me wrong, but i dont have the means or time or any of that.

just because we're at the peak of technological advancement does not automatically mean that we are going to be at the peak of videogame creativity. we are by no means at our creative peak as a species, in fact right now in popular art and media we are at a particular low point except for the field of television which is currently going through a "golden age" due to the ability to make tv shows that are on-par quality wise with movies for way less money. money is the only driving factor in the lack of creativity in popular media right now. as i said, indie gaming is going to eventually become huge, but not until you can make games that are on-par quality wise with the stuff the studios produce and for cheap. right now its neither of those things.

youve crossed the line from naive to retard fender. your in danger of going full-retard. watch yourself. in the future i suggest commenting on stuff you KNOW about, and NOT commenting on stuff you DO NOT know about.

In general I agree with Waves, I do own a PS3 and I think as far as major gaming corporations Sony is probably the least evil, but that isn't saying much, and my PC is by far a much superior gaming machine.

Just for the record I have no belief that my game is going to ever come to fruition until I start getting help.

Which will start to happen I'm sure when I start meeting other nerds in uni next year.

also have been playing both Star Wars the Force Unleashed games, which are awesome with god of war style game play and a cool story but not much more to offer other than a single play through.

and Assassin's Creed 2. which is pretty fun.

Maybe I am just too simplistic but I enjoy consoles way more than PC's for the simple reason I can sit back on my couch and play at my leisure. Every PC game I have attempted to play required more button memorization and technique than I have the patience for. The controller for me is just so much easier and enjoyable than a mouse and keyboard.
