Fuck it. I bought one

Paid $35 more than I would have in the store, but it was sealed and with receipt and warranty.

BF4 is pretty incredible. 64 players.. jets and helicopters flying and exploding at perfect frame rates, shadowing effects for all objects, sparks and smoke flying... it's a spectacle that's for sure.

I'm total shit at it right now though.

Well get it man! I just played a 40 minute game that started on sinking battleships where I covered the west flank lying prone with my trusty machine gun and ended up in the last few minutes before we were finally overwhelmed downing an enemy helicopter with my last anti-cover grenade launcher round... and it was glorious. Those youtube commercials and that enthusiasm of their interviewees were not exaggerating. This is the shit

you got battlefield for ps4? whyyyy??

any fps on consoles is a joke. its like using chop sticks to eat a steak. why dont they just come out with a mouse and keyboard addon already?

il tell you why- because the people with that addon would be completely stomping the shit out of everyone and everyone who didnt have one would be crying like a bitch.

anyway glad your having fun bro. with your silly lil controller.

of coarse mouse and keyboard will always be superior, but sitting on your couch infront of a much bigger TV has its own advantages.

Precisely. I love kicking back with a big screen and a controller (and a beer).

(not to mention my laptop doesn't come close to being able to run it)

all joking aside, i get the lure of comfort. thats why i setup my rig the way i have it now. i have a pretty sweet setup that beats the shit out of any tv setup relaxation wise. only this setup is not good for fps games.

heres my REVOLUTIONARY relaxation station (does not work unless you are single by the way and the only person who uses your computer/bed)

what i did was i got a stool. I know, this is really expensive and technological so bear with me.

I then placed my monitor (23", really awesome for gaming) on top of the stool.

Then i moved the stool near my bed.

Then i moved my mouse and keyboard to my bed.

Now my permanent hangout spot for watching tv/reading/playing games is my bed. Laying down. At first i felt like a complete lazyass but god dammit i work hard for my living so when i relax i want to fucking re fucking lax ya hur?

Its probably about equally as comfortable as sitting back in a LAZYBOY chair sippin brews. brews arent my thing i prefer smoking an gaming though.

Laying down while gaming is the shit, I gotta say. A nice pillow behind you and a nice comfy mattress below you, its fucking awesome. I also think that laying down is a much better position for your neck and spine for prolonged periods. Even though I have a great computer chair i find myself slouching alot and im sure that 30-40 years down the line that shit has a major impact.

It works great for the kind of gaming i do nowadays which is mostly like action gaming third person stuff. its awkward first person because my monitor is to my side and im laying diagnal from it so the first person view is like your head is always turned to the side a little and it screws me up.

SRSLY though, i was clearly halfjoking before, i envy your ps4 and bf4 for sure. i really hope to get a ps4 but it will probably be around this time next year. i just upgraded my PC though and i can play new games at max settings so thats cool.

I'm currently looking to design a simulation using the oculus rift and leap motion devices in tandem.

So that image is close, but in my vision you'd be waving your hands in the air like you just don't care.

That, or the Rift with a GoPro for some augmented reality.

Speaking of which... hey Sir-Ex how good are you at coding in the unity engine?

aw man ive never thought of rift + gopro stuff. thats gonna be amazing.

as a kid i always thought it would be cool to take the local neighborhood and turn it into an FPS map, for instance. imagine playing real life counterstrike in your neighborhood with that shit and wifi enabled so you can run around. you could put terrorists in the windows and shit. course you would look like a crazy to people but who gives a shit?

god damn the future is going to rule. that is some society changing shit, like i imagine at some point it becomes a google glass looking device and you can have all sorts of different layers on top of this one layer of reality we see. augmented layers of reality that you could switch through. one of them could be gaming, like you switch to the gaming layer and you are put in an augmented reality game with the people around your physical location. it could be the fucking pokemon layer, where you pop in and it puts actual pokemon fuckers in your environment for you to catch. or a "pedestrian" layer that shows you all sorts of cool overlayed info as you interact with your real physical environment.

I'm still learning with it but it's the only engine I've been working with for the past 6 months and the one I'm using in the project I'm working on atm.
