Unhappy R.I.P. Phillip Seymour Hoffman

From USA Today;
Quote:

Academy Award-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman has died at age 46, multiple media outlets reported, citing law enforcement officials.

He was found dead in his Manhattan home, police said. His cause of death wasn't officially determined.

In late May, Hoffman finished a 10-day stint in a rehab program for a drug problem that included snorting heroin.

The actor had struggled with substance abuse in the past.

Hoffman has three children — Cooper, 10, Tallulah 7, and Willa, 5 — with costume designer Mimi O'Donnell.

Hoffman won the best-actor Oscar for Capote in 2006. He was nominated for supporting-actor Oscars for his roles in The Master, Doubt and Charlie Wilson's War.

He most recently starred as Plutarch Heavensbee in the summer blockbuster The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. He will reprise the role in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part I, set for a November release. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part II is currently filming....

Oscar winner Philip Seymour Hoffman, 46, has died
I don't know why but I really like this quote:
Quote:
Patton Oswalt: "Sometimes I absolutely hate this job." -- The Grim Reaper, when Philip Seymour Hoffman's name showed up on his list...
R.I.P. Mr. Hoffman, you will be missed. One of the few actual talented souls that Hollywood had.

The actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in his New York apartment on Sunday morning of an apparent drug overdose, according to a law enforcement official who requested anonymity because he was not certain the actor’s family had been informed of the death.

The official said Mr. Hoffman, 46, was found in his West Village apartment around 11:30 a.m. by a friend who had become concerned at not being able to reach Mr. Hoffman.

Investigators found a syringe in his arm and an envelope containing what is believed to be heroin, the official said.

“It’s pretty apparent that it was an overdose,” the official said. “The syringe was in his arm.”

Srs. Have seen part of big lebowski.

It's odd that I missed out on a whole career by chance.

I've seen 6 movies with him:

- Twister
- The Big Lebowski
- Mission Impossible... uh.. 4? Maybe 3? I think 4
- Patch Adams
- Red Dragon
- This movie where he's this gay guy who cross dresses with robert deniro in it and mila jovovich

He was perfect in Big Lebowski and that last one, and he was good in twister.

Red Dragon sucked.

And I guess he was good in Patch Adams?

He wasn't very good as a villain in MI

...

Hey I just realized why they call them 'need'les.

The one I thought you would have seen is the 25th Hour with Ed Norton.

Jesus Christ another movie I haven't seen. It's amazing how many big movies he was in that I missed.

I'll leave it at that though. Capote was great. Rip Phillip. Peace to the family.

his portrayal of Lester Bangs in almost famous is legendary, thats probably if not my favorite in my top 3 movies of all time

almost famous got me interested in music pre-80s and it was PSH playing Bangs that got me interested in rock journalism in a serious way. he tore the shit out of that role.
