Hannibal

Holy shit, this might be my favorite drama show since lost. If you arent watching this you need to get the fuck on it. You dont need to be a fan of the movies, or even serialized detective shows. This show "transcends" its genre. The guy who plays hannibal was fucking born to play hannibal. I think he might actually be the devil, hes that good. At least the antichrist. I would be actually scared in his presence, I think.

Anyone else loving the fuck out of this show?

And now, to offer some entertainment, presenting to you, Hannibals version of a smile:

It's the best thing to come out of a network cable show in a really long time. You would think it was an HBO show by the content, I'm glad that NBC took the risk and that it has done well enough to get renewed for a third season.

Yeah and not only is the content really edgy, but the effects are all AMAZING and done on a low budget. This show could not have happened even 5-10 years ago. People say we are in a golden age of television, but honestly, I think its more that the whole game has changed because for the first time shows like this can be produced on a budget. I dont see a decline in tv happening for a long time as long as such creativity can be accomplished at this rate. Everything from the prosthetics to the CG to the set-work to the cinematography is just top notch. And again it costs less than most other shows to make.

It sucks that we're still at the whim of giant corporations and nielson numbers though. As good as it is, its just as susceptible to being canceled if the network is not happy with the numbers. Just look at Community. The creative floodgates have been opened, we just need to get rid of the corporate middlemen now. Theres becoming less and less of a need for broadcasting companies and other corporate gatekeepers in general. Free the creativity, I say.

My wife watches this show. She's a huge fan of the books and the Tony Hopkins movies as well, and she says that the show's Hannibal is her favorite. I've seen parts of it, and it looks like really good TV. Gotta do a Netflixathon and catch up.

Which mushroom one? The one where the girl took the tea or the one with the bodies growing mushrooms out of them? Both great episodes.

I love all the episodes where hannibal has to fight someone to the death. The fight scene with the violen guy was awesome, as was the whole episode. Also the fight scene with crawford. They were both done really well and came off as real, exciting, etc.

I also really liked the season one finale. Both finale episodes are great but the first one was a game changer. The second one I had more of an idea what was going to happen due to the seasons cold open.

Chilton and the guy that plays him. Eddie Izzard. Great acting. Also Scott Thompson adds some great humor and lightness.

I read the book hannibal.

The movie sucked balls and since that I've been afraid of watching the visual presentation of the guy. I didn't like him in silence of the lambs or red dragon for that matter.

Hannibal is a different character in the books..

Havent read any of the books. Seen all the movies though. I enjoyed Hannibal.

Mads Mikkelsen plays him very differently than the other actors. More subtlety to his performance, a kind of soulless cold energy. Almost like a robot. Hopkins performance in comparison is way over-dramatized. I think I enjoyed the show more than I did any of the movies simply because of Mikkelsens amazing acting.

If you enjoy the series at all, you should at least check out an episode or two and see if you like it or not. If for nothing else than it explores more of Hannibals past and his relationship with Graham and has a bunch of cool subtle nods to the books.

Hmm maybe I'll check it out then.. Hopkins really did over play it. I guess it was kind of what he had to do given his limited time on screen.. in silence of the lambs at least.

The script of Hannibal was just all kinds of fucked up.

You need to read the book. You'll realize then how truly they shit and pissed all over the book.
