I just watched The Descent and my 5 word review is: I just fucking don't care.
I'd heard so many good things about it, so I was excited to check it out.
The first 45 minutes were wicked boring: literally nothing happened and I didn't care about anybody they introduced.
The 'scary' shit started exactly 45 minutes in, but because I'd spent the whole movie being annoyed by how boring everyone and everything has been, I didn't have any emotional connection to the ambiguous, essentially nameless, women that I wasn't able to differentiate between from the moment they met up.
I knew there was a main character at the beginning of the movie, but up until the final 10 minutes, I honestly did not know her name or even if she was alive or dead, and I still didn't know her name until the credits rolled.
The monsters are well designed and fairly creepy, and there have been a couple of decent jump scares; but there's absolutely no sense of tension in any minute of this movie. It's a jump scare followed by 3-5 minutes of panicked rock climbing, followed by another jump scare, ad infinitum.
Every single death (except for one of the first) has been entirely predictable.
Also, whoever decided it would be a good idea to paint the entire film with alternating red and green filters deserves to never work in movies again.

The best part of that movie was the claustrophobic scene where she was trapped under the rock.. I couldn't breath at that part.

Maybe it wasn't a good part.

I will admit that was a very good scene. But also, I think it was the last good scene. If there was 45 minutes of them trying to escape the cave without any killer monsters I think it would have been a better film.

My kid and I are working our way through the ANOES Series.. We watched THe Dream Child and Freddy's Dead last night. When finished we will start the Friday the 13th series. I have seen them all but I enjoy every minute. We aren't watching Freddy vs. Jason until both series are finished.

My little horror freak painted this.

Depends on what kind you want to watch. How much gore, what era, you want slasher or paranormal... Or does it even matter? So much to choose from.. I like cheese.. You might not..

Ill ask my minions

Alice Sweet Alice

Slither

I haven't seen anything new.. Haven't anytime.
And I'm not going to put ten million options up.
I like these ones though.

I'm a fan. Among my favorites are:

À l'intérieur (Inside)

The Host

Something Wicked This Way Comes

Pontypool

Rosemary's Baby

The Thing

The House of the Devil

Martyrs

The Ring

Session 9

The Awakening

Videodrome

My favorite types of horror movies are those centered around things people can't control, demon possession, malevolent aliens, insanity, the supernatural, etc. I hate hate HATE torture porn and its ilk. Movies where people are sliced up for two hours are not at all scary to me, just tedious.

Yes.. I like slasher flics.. But I'm not a big fan of the torture stuff either like HOSTEL AND Human Centipede .. Makes me anxious.

I like the stuff you said Terry. Thanks for thinking for me.
