Ah the joys of building a PC

From constructing the body...

to testing the heart and brain...

Gotta love that "IT'S ALLLIIIVE!!!" moment

then finally putting it all together

and getting it back to what you're used to, only everything running so much better.

you should get an aftermarket cpu cooler -- they are so much more effective.

also, you should double check your case fan direction. use the case fans in the front as intake, and the top and back as exhaust.

a PC is so much quieter when nothing gets hot. the loudest part in mine is usually the HDD when it spools up

Thats always a big problem for me though, cable management...always have that ham-fisted look. Nice though man, enjoy.

Yea i know about the CPU cooler. Went with stock to save some costs. I'll be upgrading that to a liquid-cooled system later down the line. As is, benchmarking/stress testing it still remained pretty cool. The only moving parts in my PC are the fans, so overall it stays cool/quiet to begin with.

The fans are intentionally turned inward as the top is a vent and blow the hot air up.

Also yea the pic was taken before the cable cleanup. Got everything tightened up with two-sided velcro.

specs here: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/DHFddC

Spent the weekend building it/installing all the software so not much fun yet, but after hooking it up to my 3D TV i started playing a couple old games and MMOs in 3D and baked off my ass which was fun.

So far everything off the one SSD, but the case has four 2.5" drive bays and nine 3.5" drive bays, so adding storage/RAID won't be an issue.

I'll probably be getting a corsair h100i or h80i for cpu cooling. Personally not a fan of custom stuff, i just want my box to be black and silent. Hell, i'm even thinking of taping over the geforce lighted text.

Just added Plex Media Server/Home Theater, so now if you connect to my wi-fi and have the app on your phone/tablet, you can use my video/audio libraries. TVs are connected to plex via chromecast, so you can also mirror your android phone/tablet to my HDTVs as well as stream your media directly.

Next actual purchase will probably be the Nest Thermostat. Not only will it automate environmental controls, it apparently will also work with smart lights as well.

Just found out Plex doesn't require the same wi-fi, i can basically access my media from anywhere now.

I have my own personal netflix!

is there a reason you got a 1tb ssd instead of 4x smaller ones (approx the same cost)?

i have the same evo 840 in my laptop and it rocks

50 down, 10 up

I have a 1 TB drive because I'm going to fill it with the media on my external drives, and I've just ordered a second one now that my box is a netflix substitute as well.
