Didn't they sell out to Zuckerburg?

Im not judging them, id sell out too if given the chance, but it also killed any inclination of me ever trying them or wanting to use them for anything...

I still think they're very neat.

Komp is the person who gave the idea of hand tracking in an occulus rift environment guys.

LGR (who I subscribe to) posting this video showing off the DK2 just inspired me to make a thread on it. Sorry if it seemed like I was appropriating your ideas Komp.

I'm just thinking that the interface could be made to be so intuitive. There are so many applications besides just games. Imagine building levels in Unity with that set up. You could work so quickly! Or being able to plot data sets for some physics analysis in 3-dimensions, being able to study and manipulate things in a 3d environment instead of with pen and paper or on a computer screen..

If you've seen the ending to HBO's Silicon Valley you'll see basically what i'm shooting for conceptually, even though its starting with Surgery.

No clue, there were no product dates even before Zuck bought em out.

I don't think FB will brand it to them alone, however. If anything Facebook is a big enough Google Jr now, able to incubate far-reaching ideas and sell ads/products from it instead of as it.

I'd give it 3-4 years before the average person is going to be able to pick one up like a console or pc...

even then, id skip the first few generations to let them work the bugs out...

Sony, even Google's Cardboard is making a run for the Rift's money.

Most surprisingly from the Kove Kit is that the Rift uses an over the counter overclocked Samsung Galaxy Note 3 as its display.

Next build, i ordered mine when the dk3 just came out. I reached out to them when they were ready to ship if i could switch to the dk3, but those aren't for sale yet. And given how long it took to distribute the dk2's, it'll probably be a while before the 3's are ready.

Correction: It is 1080p
