The White Rapper Thread...
eh?
Sorry, I'm going to attend both the Paid Dues Festival and the Talib concert on the 27th. Anyway, I was thinking about how some people see white rappers as a dichotomy and blah blah blah. Point being I then thought of how many white rappers I listened to, and then wondered how many worthwhile ones I was missing and thus the thread. The list off the top of my head is as follows. The two linked guys are friends of mine that I'd say are very worth checking out and have hocked on here before to no avail. Anyhow, the short list... Aesop Rock Atmosphere (Slug) Brother Ali Cage Cubbiebear Ed Bones El-P Eminem Eyedea (&Abilities) RA The Rugged Man Sage Francis The only other one that immediately comes to mind that isn't on my list is MC Serch, but I've never listened to 3rd Bass enough to include him. Help?

Listen to Edan's "primitive plus" and "beauty and the beat". Both albums are dope as hell. Also, a british rapper by the name of Jhest has an album called "return of the drifter". It's like a British illmatic, haha. If you like Cage, check out Smut Peddlers "Porn again", it's a pretty solid album. Non phixion's "the future is now" is another good album. I've kinda grown out of them but alota people might like Jedi Mind Tricks' "Violent by design"

Smut Peddlers I've got, Non Phixion I never checked into for some reason. Jedi Mind is alright, I'm not too into them though, Paz's voice kinda kills it for me. Plus ever since RA killed him on Uncommon Valor it makes him so much worse. Heh. Quote:
Thanks for the nod, took me a second to realize who the hell you were though. Grouch and Eligh is also on the list of things I've heard mentioned and had forgotten about, so thanks for the reminder SSD, I'll check it out. |

Well done. We managed to make it an entire 10 posts without some assclown coming in and going "uh huh huh huh vanilla ice", and you had to ruin it. I guess really I should have just disregarded your post like you did mine and the rest of them but I felt your idiocy needed to be pointed out to you. The next time you decide to contribute nothing I'd appreciate if you didn't do it in my thread.

Heh.
No problem Dalande, I'll always take an honest recommendation, no matter if it's fitting or not. Mainstream isn't really of any relevance to me though, unless we're talking bands/artists that specifically pander to the mainstream demographic, that shit irks me. Nothing wrong with any of the picks either by the way. I admittedly don't really get down on Bloodhound Gang much, but the others I'll throw on every once in a while. Word SSD. Slug is one half white, one quarter black, and one quarter Native American as per wikipedia (I always just thought he was half white and half black. White enough I guess. I've downloaded most of the recommended shit and checked out some of it, thanks again guys. Also, did anyone happen to check out the two dudes I linked? I was kinda curious as to some other yahookan hiphop head opinions. The cubbiebear dude is starting to blow up a little around here. He's opened for Fatlip of Pharcyde, Deltron, Cage, and recently KRS. He's only been seriously rapping for about a year or so and has improved a ton since, I just wish some of his better newer material was up on his myspace.
