MySpace.com - Derrick Hart - Denver, Colorado - Gospel / Psychedelic / Indie - www.myspace.com/101876

Derrick Hart, based out of Denver these days but used to be local to my area. Beautiful music made probably to nod out to. I'd group him to similar (note: SIMILAR) artists like Isaac Brock (Modest Mouse), Jeff Buckley, Thom Yorke (Radiohead), Okkervil River, etc. I sent a message to him about possibly purchasing a physical CD instead of his 99c songs.

The two he has up on his page are beautiful, but check the preview for "Any Drug", the songs are amazing.

^ i vouch for sunnO))).

i'd also like to recommend the band Bedhead. they broke up awhile ago but they put out three near perfect albums while they were around. they had three guitarists who played really slow, beautiful interlocking melodies. awesome stuff

^^ yeah i remember looking at his myspace page a while ago and liking it, thanks for the reminder. is he still around here??

Afrohorse, i like that jazzsteppa page.

this thread is useless if youre just going to try and show off how much cooler your selection of music is than everyone elses (like Vanilla did) and not check out anyone elses recommendations.

i'll put a vote in for Euphone, out of Chicago...drummer ryan rapsys started euphone solo, playing live drums with electronic overlays but now musicians are in and out of Euphone's sound. I recommend the album Hashin' it Out

i think ive posted this before >

Ruins - A weird Japanese prog (i guess?) duo who play drums and bass and sing in a made-up language. They're awesome.

Heres some mp3s from a couple different albums.

The Gun Club - authentic yet unique classic punk rock (check out the album Fire of Love; I believe it was released in 1980)

The Melvins - They may not be obscure, but they aren't mainstream by any stretch. It's sludgy Seattle stoner metal.

Devon The Dude - amazing, but not exactly popular rapper. A lot of songs relating to pot, without incredibly stupid lyrics. I recommend d/ling the song "Doobie Ashtray".

Dinosaur, Jr. - Again, not really obscure, but a lot of people don't know enough about them to appreciate them. I recommend d/ling the song "Repulsion".

And IMO, John Frusciante's solo work is superior to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but certainly not as praised.

Ad Astra Per Aspera - young, rock/punk/experimental band that has a really original sound imo.

Bracken - best artist on the anticon label imo, crazy awesome amazing band

Menomena - another sweet band that not many people have heard about. they developed their own computer program to record and make all there songs.
