i really hope you're wrong.. what's with the lack of love for the cats up here making real music, and bumping real, genuine, creative art instead of cookie-cutter shit for radio play.

there is plenty of hip-hop talent from Canada, and you're just taking away from that. hip-hop is not about where you're from, its about what you do. after all, it traces its true roots to dub from the caribbean. not brooklyn. not compton. not illadelph. it started at block parties in the islands.

... and now, look at their dancehall queens down there.. they had a recent one from JAPAN, hahaha-- her name's Junko.. she only speaks japanese and a bit of patwa..

worrd. i was just going to say: there is almost, if not ZERO correlation between the record label you're on, or even being 'big' on mtv and being a great artist. in fact, i'd argue that most of the truly great artists aren't on labels, or merely give labels distribution rights [think mf doom and others] in order to get their music out there.

Charizma & Peanut Butter Wolf left the Disney label [forget the name.. had organized konfuzion, raw fusion, etc]... BASICS!!! haha, that's what it was, Hollywood Basics. anyway, as i was saying, charizma and peanut butter left the label over artistical differences.. i heard from a friend of pb wolf's that the label said something to the effect that their music wasn't 'gangster' enough. [this was when NWA and all that west coast gangster sound was all the hype].
so after charizma died, and pb wolf was trying to find suitors to put out the music he and his best friend devoted the last 5 years of their lives making, he couldnt get a deal that he felt did them any justice, so he went out and made is own label, StonesThrow.

by the way, that Big Shots record that disney never released, I could argue day-in-day-out that it's the best hip-hop record ever layed down, front to back. that record is like my bible. i've up'd it in this thread.

i've got the Big Shots Bonus EP laying around here somewhere if anyone wants it. maybe when i find it i'll just up it, haha. but ya, it's the tracks that didnt make the cut for the LP plus a couple remixes/other versions of tracks that did make the final cut.

Rapidshare pisses me off because you can't grab more than one album in a day.

I finally saw what you meant about megaupload, all those albums I upped and they still had the old UI. Must have changed right after I was done. New site is ridiculously fast upload wise and has a multiupload now though, definitely changed for the better.

i grab music from rapidshare all day, i've done like 5 or 6 in just a few hours. i just have to wait 15 min. before i click on the free download option. if i click on it to early it says how many more minutes i have left until i can try again.
