i dunno why but when i try to listen i feel like im listening in on a bunch of high schoolers gossiping for gods sake

theres an old saying in the rock game: you get a lifetime to craft your first album, while the second one you only get a tour.

artists either really step it up and expand quickly or do exactly what they just did on the last album, only turned up to 11

im still gonna keep my eye on him cuz hes young and has tons of time to live up to his potential, but he could have made a much better album imo

That's because you are and it is, for now...

There is also a saying to not give the whole nut right away, most bands these days have anywhere from 30-100(10-30 A-B grade) song/song fragments in play, meaning they could have up to 2-3 albums before the first even sees release, especially if they are in a bidding war with labels, which can see acts releasing volumes of mix-tapes/eps, independently....

As stated above, bands will have a mass of material built up over as you said "a lifetime" so sophomore releases that sound really similar are that way in part because the song ideas were all kicking around at the same time as earlier works...It is when it takes a band 2 years of touring and 18 additional months in the studio to come up with a second album that the are abiding by the old adage stated previously...

As i see it the group will reach the first peak, then splinter, a couple dudes will fall out of the game... Tyler if he keeps his head on right will be just fine...I am enjoying that they are still in the homegrown stage of their career, it leads to a more unique sound/performance...

For sure. There's that and the homophobia. Just doesn't jive with me. Too much hatred, too concentrated, only for them to get too much praise on shit like MTV, etc. Don't like it. Not one bit.

He just released another album actually, heard it's (un?)mixed terribly and the vocals sounded like shit and I passed. I'll probably eventually get around to it though. Dude is on point. I've been playing his Johnson & Jonson track "Hold On John" a lot as of late though. Definitely one of the better Lennon samples in all of hip-hop.

Here are two not terrible Lil B songs my friends have showed me but I still dont get it and he has a whole album about being weird ass white people. "Age of Information" has a really cool concept but i dont think its done all that well. "Base for Your Face" is pretty cool but I think its because the 9th wonder production. I love Phonte and Jean Grae too

Big K.R.I.T. - return of 4eva is the best release this year so far, hands down.

WAY better than Goblin, arguably (aka definitely) better than Bad Meets Evil...

I want to hear Gangsta Gibbs and KRIT on a track together!

Its a damn good album but not better than his first.

Gibbs and Krit are touring together right now on the return on 4eva tour, along with Smoke DZA whos a pretty chill artist to.

I'd still put All 6's and 7s above it though imo.

I don't think they're on tour right now. Gibbs been posted up in Gary and I haven't heard anything from KRIT.
