Warning to wu tang fans

they were two hours late, no rza OR gza, no opening act, short set

also the lights were terrible and the mic volumes were shit, 90% of the time they were fumbling around that factor...

also whether it was microphone volume issue or not: method man did inspectah decks verse on Triumph.

I repeat to all wu-tang fans: METHOD MAN DID INSPECTAH DECKS VERSE ON TRIUMPH... that was BULLSHIT, INS was there he could have fucking done it himself.

Also theyre douchebag photographers were blocking the view of the group by standing on stage directly infront of them.

BUT: Method Man, Ghostface, Cappadonna, Raekwon and Inspectah Deck fucking KILLED IT, they performed very fucking well.

Especially Cappadonna, i would definitely catch him any chance I got.

Why would one want to see rap live... It is a studio art...

Maybe if there were some dope free styling and a live band(ala the roots), it would be worth paying for, but trying to replicate studio tracks on a stage with a dj, and half of the crew is ridiculous...

How many times did each member pimp his latest project, because I know that was worth the money and time right?

ehhhh live rap is amazing, i dont know how you can say its a studio art when it was born and raised in the streets. rap is about the MC and the DJ, if they can't hold their own out of the studio thats when they're fakes.

the show that i got, while i got it, was great (aside from the mic problems)

wu-tang doesnt just replicate their studio tracks they switch the beats and make medleys of certain songs, thats what a lot of people do.
It was blasphemy when meth did INS verse on triumph though.

Also they only mentioned Big Doe Rehab, Cuban Linx 2 and 8 Diagrams.

edit; i wanna restress that the worst part was the camera guys blocking our view after like 45 minutes

My buddy Alex went to the Baltimore show, and I would have really liked to have gone. He said they were amazing, but a half hour or so late, and no RZA. The sound and lighting problems were probably due to the venue I'd hope.

Rap live is incredible when done right. When the sound quality is actually on and you've got a worthwhile MC it's uncomparable. But when it's bad, it's bad. The hypemen on stage shouting out your lines thing suck, which is what ruined the Brother Ali/Ghost/Rakim show for me besides Rakim not showing up. Brother Ali killed it as always by himself, then out came Ghost and like 7 other dudes all shouting his lines over the already terrible sound. My friend Cubbie (MySpace.com - Cubbie @ Rams Head Live Feb 2nd - baltimore - Indie - www.myspace.com/asapcontra) also has a wireless mic and jumps around in the crowd and goes crazy on stage, as I said, all depends on the MC.

Boring. They've been saying that practically since OB4CL came out. I was hoping for something nicer for a change.

that's ridic--I've only seen them live once. This was at VirginFest '07 and they were in their full glory; Method Mad kept the show going and flowing as he simultaneously crowd-surfed.

disappointing news that they went all Axl Rose and kinda faked.

I always miss Virginfest and it's always right down the street from my work that I get stuck at. I was really pissed when I found out Wu-Tang was there.

I felt the same way until I saw Kanye last year. He was amazing - didn't miss a word. It was like everything I had hoped for going to see Snoop (twice), Ice Cube, etc.

i just had to post this video, rza explains the song guitar gently weeps. his devotion to music is really evident at the end when he explains the song in depth. and it just made the song make alot more sense to me, and just took it to a whole different level of meaning the way he explained it and what went into making the song

^that video, only 2:00ish in... he's fucking right, just talked about this yesterday. New Wu Album rocks a lot of logic instead of violence.

I'm not a massive Wu-Tang fan but I have to say 8-Diagrams is one of the worst rap albums i've heard so far, no sick beats or samples, it just feels soo...... wrong, there aren't any noticible stand-out songs on the whole album and it has alot of those tracks that you just have to skip within 20 seconds of listening to them.

I just can't feel the same vibe/connection that the guys had on previous albums, it's not good enough.

Niggas wanna pop shit, i pop clips, bitch, i'll put my dick on ya lips

maybe the hip-pop a lot of you kids listen to. minus the roots of course, they're for real, but i definitely agree with like all mainstream [i consider wu-tang mainstream too, don't try to even argue against it. everyone one here knows who they are, and they've had their share of tracks on mtv, so don't even start);

i saw the fugees play with the roots when i was 12. a dope comedian who was on just for laughs within a yr or two of that show opened for them. it was one of the best live shows i've ever seen PERIOD, and i've seen At The Drive-In and Bowie live.. [steely dan too, although that show wasn't uber in terms of performance, just the fact they were playing a show was enough, haha]. i still say a rapper and a dj when done right can be about as entertaining as it gets, (fresh prince and jazzy jeff, charizma and pb wolf, KMD (subroc on the tables), de la soul (plug 3, MASE), etc.

then again, i'm stuck in 1992, hahah
