Absolute favorite artist?

Let's hear 'em. Break it down into genre's if necessary. No more than three if you can't pick though.

I'm going with Elliott Smith and Brother Ali for the moment.

pretty much an impossible task

souljah fyah. local reggae band who i have seen play over 100 shows (most of them for free because they give free tickets to people who are fans)

k'naan. hip-hop/rap/african style stuff. check him out even if you aren't really into rap.

and a 900 band tie for my third spot

sometimes I have trouble comprehending how K'naan is so sick. All in one man. Delicious choice

1. Bob Dylan-to many genres to label

2. John Coltrane-jazz

3. Dvorak-classical

For the record I meant three per genre.

I'd certainly put Coltrane as my jazz pick as well.

Man I know us music heads always wanna be pickin but we all know that we simply just can't do it

Lately ive been inspired by

Wayne
Atmosphere
Explosions in The Sky
Thelonious Monk and Coltrane
J Dilla
Erykah Badu
Lauryn Hill

Which oldschool names should I look up in terms of the people that started the type of shit that lauryn hill, badu and dilla draw from.
