Red House Painters...
Jesus, and I thought Elliott Smith and Joy Division made me feel suicidal. Love it though. Probably some of my favorite sad bastard music.
Katy Song Medicine Bottle Dudes set the stage for a lot of stuff that came a little later and didn't do it quite as well. Referred to as Slowcore. Also, if you've heard of Sun Kil Moon, that's the same dude. |

You're hella played out. Leave me alone to wallow in sadness fucko.
Also, is there any other kind of suicidal music? Besides that death metal bullshit, which coincidentally actually makes me want to kill myself because most of it is atrocious and grating. It's also probably worth mentioning that RHP predates Elliott. He was still doing the Heatmiser gig at the time. |

Woah, I really dig that song actually. Thanks!
Haha, I was thinking that the chorus reminds me of Black Mountain and come to find out there's a slight connection in that the dude that runs Secretly Canadian also runs Jagjaguwar (Black Mountain, Pink Mountaintops, Bon Iver). Thanks for the well wishes. I'm not really sad most of the time, a nigga just gets down from time to time though. Much appreciated. |
