I'm an Either/Or man myself, but that is an amazing album. Totally not worth 10 grand but I'd certainly love to have it.

is the digital format really that much worse than vinyl? dont get me wrong, i love the warmth of wax, but all I'm tryin ta do is scratch some shit, preferably my own vocals. So getting a vinyl press is kinda out of the question (they're expensive). I was thinking about getting a rig like this: 1 cd turntable (i found a cool one that you can plop a real record on top of and scratch with the weight of "real" vinyl on the platter), a legit deck (prolly a technics-1200 mkII, they're cheap on ebay) and a mixer... lemme know whatcha think, since you seem to have some experience with this (excuse me for going offtopic).

im glad a bunch of people have sick records

theres a book/record store around that sells old records for cheap and theyre all in awesome condition. i think my favorite find was lou reed's street hassle in like mint condition for 3 dollars.

i dont buy new records much anymore becuase they're usually pretty expensive. i do want to buy a copy of the new animal collective album though

Bought my first 10 albums today!

The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Axis: Bold As Love *
Alice Cooper - Greatest Hits *
The Doobie Brothers - What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits(Live album) *
Billy Joel - Piano Man *
Michael Jackson - Thriller *
Simon & Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water *
of Montreal - Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?
My Morning Jacket - Evil Urges
Bad Company - Bad Company *
Stevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of Life(Greatest hits compilation) *

(* = used)
Photos coming soon

How do you guys go about getting new albums? Do you just go browse or do you go shopping with certain albums in mind?

I had a few specifics in mind that I wanted to get but there were none of them(except Axis)

I was hoping to pick up some of these, if not all of them

OK Computer - Radiohead (they had it but I didn't have enough $$ It was 27 dollars)
Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall, Piper at the Gates of Dawn - Pink Floyd
Good News For People Who Love Bad News - Modest Mouse
American Beauty - Grateful Dead
Cease To Begin - Band Of Horses
For Emma, Forever Ago - Bon Iver (They had Blood Bank EP, but I can wait for that)
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles
Any Coheed & Cambria albums(preferably one of the Good Apollo's)
Lateralus - Tool
Thick As A Brick - Jethro Tull (the only one I found was Songs From The Wood, and I'm not too keen on that one)

I think so, I loved just flicking through the stacks. It was so mellow.

I'm gonna get a new one every couple weeks.

I look forward to this.

worrd, i feel your pain..

most of my records are 200 km away at my mom's place
she has all of my pharcyde, de la, bowie, steely dan [even the special transparent yellow press of Aja], marlena shaw and random dub plates from killimanjaro sound system, king tubby, wendy renee, temptations etc. most of my collection is old motown/r&b, but i have pretty much every bowie release, pharcyde and de la, and then random classics like Time Out! [Brubeck quartet], old MJ and stuffs like that.

all i've really got up here is a bunch of dilla and other random stones throw presses and re-issues.

some recent purchases that i've got in my possession though:

Mayer Hawthorne: Just 'Aint Gonna Work out
Charizma & Peanut Butter Wolf: M-Town EP [only 500 pressings]
King Tubby Soundsystem with U-Roy
Too Short: Life is... Too Short
Arabian Prince: Innovative Life: The Anthology, 1984-1989
Koushik: Out My Window
Amnesty: Free Your Mind
Aloe Blacc: Shine Through

Awesome Bearsy. I'm more a fan of your to get list admittedly, but I dig the pick ups.

I do both. I usually go with a record or two in mind and browse as well, but sometimes it's just time to hit up the store and browse, especially some of the ones around here with thousands of records.
