Mixing Records and CDs

This question is for those who own or have used "Serato Scratch" enough to know a little bit about the program and mixing in general.

Is the program worth getting? I love records so much that I'll never go fully digital; my 1200's are here to staying until I die. With that in mind, I do own 2 CDJs-800 that I can simply burn CDs and mix those digital files in a way similar to records, but never quite right.

How has it changed your mixing in general? Is it worth the $700 to get the newest version? That money can be spent on other important things well. The technology is great; I just want to know how it compares to just sticking with CDs to mix digital files.

I have used it briefly in afterparties and such, but not enough to know a massive amount about it... personally I like it alot and when I get the chance I will invest as I need a way of mixing digital files, and would rather do it on my technics than bother with CDJ's.

If you already have CDJ's though I dunno if it would make much difference as sound quality is the same... dictated by the mp3 quality/resolution... its just nicer to mix on decks I think!

dowload it for free and find out if you like it, then when you go to produce a mix for profit just licsence your copy so its legit.

^ It comes with hardware aswell, you connect to your mixer/decks and use controller vinyls to manipulate mp3's.

Stanton also do one called Final Scratch, I think that was the first of its kind.

You can use it as standalone aswell I think, but that is just mixing on your pc with the computer doing the beatmatching etc for you.
