This is ONE good measure of good lyrics. If they sound like something you might find on a Hallmark greeting card then it's probably an excellent lyric.

A good example: My life was emptiness until you came along, I nearly fell apart you took my heart and made me strong


A bad example: little mama show me how you work it, go ahead put your back into it, do your thing like there ain't nothin to it, shake-sh-sh-shake that ass girl!


You can tell that some songs just have lines that are the height of emotional expression. Usually they're written by professional song writers who have backgrounds in poetry or card writing.


Another good one: There'll be no more mountains for us to climb, this will be a love lasting for all time
