i think hes making a different point. hes arguing terminology, your arguing for the existence of the hood pass altogether. hes saying its a contradiction to say someones got a hood pass without calling it a nigger pass basically, which is a ridiculous point imo. if im white and my friends are black and from the ghetto im not going to be calling anything a nigger anything. i will stay clear of that word out of respect.

I just went into a "black" barbershop last week and ill be god damned if everyone in that room didnt immediately start thinking about something racist if not racism itself.

Can't help it. I feel like as a human I immediately observe physical differences in others and feel more separate from them for it. Race is just one of the factors, but it's the same with white people that dont look remarkably like me.

I grew up with red hair and freckles and when I see people like that, there's a pretty natural bond wheras you know that other person has recieved similar social conditions for their entire life - based simply on how they look.


So really i think racism is absolutely natural, it really seems like something the human brain would be prone to. The people with intelligence that are able to reason on a "higher level" can tell that race doesn't really mean shit.... but it seems like that's not the majority right now.

that's what i mean by everyone and opinions. imo, i think we all have these preconceived notions of other races than our own. i think that is human nature. but, again just imo, it doesnt become racism until an overtly racial act/slur is used against a person/group. you could have these conceptions about a group of ppl and not be racist towards them.

So basically what happened here is a white dude said nigger and instead of taking it in context and/or simply as him exercising poor judgment we're going to over analyze the fuck out of it and use it as a means of parlaying a poor choice of words (but still a rather valid point) into a discussion on the perils of being black in 2010 and the history of racism? I mean I'm not saying the article doesn't have it's points because it certainly does, but crapping ourselves and jumping into a frenzy every time the word is uttered is part of what gives it such power. I don't see anyone balking over his using the term faggot a few lines down either.

Not to mention the obvious irony in identifying him as someone who is "singing black" but being up in arms about him using the term "white girl crazy" or talking about race himself.

I guess in short what I'm trying to say is get over it.
