Soulseek
Soulseek is the best free mp3 sharing program there is. If you don't got it, get it. If you do have it, share your account name...
mine is crackerjack2228. I got a new computer so i dont have much in my shared folder... i'd be interested in hearing what my fellow yahookans are listening to. |

I used to use soulseek back in the day, but i haven't used anything but torrents on private trackers for years now.

I'm not gonna lie, the past couple days I found a couple things I've been trying to put on my ipod that weren't on torrents, blogs, what, megaup, etc. so I can't complain. But idk. Kinda hit or miss. But all has its place

Untrue. Believe me sir. There are a few nutty things that I haven't been able find, or some local stuff, etc. that aren't readily available on torrents.

I go through periods of using slsk, oddly enough I just started using it again a couple weeks ago. Had to re download it. Anyway, as mentioned it is really useful at times for hard to find shit that cannot be found via torrents/blogs or whatever. The search is pretty wonky as is other parts of it, and it's kinda stone age as far as p2p goes, but it's got it's perks.

so i downloaded it today so i could grab some four tet stuff to listen to while driving. worked like a charm in the space of about 30 minutes i had 3 new four tet albums. but its weird, does anyone else experience a serious slowdown on machine AND network performance when slsk is open? like sometimes it wont let me open up new apps while its open and also i cant connect to web sites and stuff.
is this just me? should i fuck with my router and options a bit?

i find albums using google blog search, pretty easy to find most records, but some stuff is hard to find, for instance alot of records from Stones Throw are hard to find on blogs because all their files on mediafire, etc get deleted. i use torrents for whole discographies and soulseek as a last resort, because some things are just too hard to locate otherwise. i think soulseek is pretty awesome and i've used it off and on for many years. the ability to check out and download a persons whole library is really great.

yeah blogs are super easy, you can type artist-album name + mediafire or rapidshare and find a huge amount of shit super easy and fast. that being said soulseek really is the best program though, always pretty fast and like previously mentioned it has tons of rare and obscure shit
