Are music videos what they used to be?

There was a time when music videos were events. The "new video" was something that was premiered, probably on MTV or VH1. Or if you were big time like MJ or Nirvana it would get premierd on major networks like FOX or ABC. And you and your friends would meet after school and huddle around it. Probably during TRL (hehehe, remember?). They formed the biggest impression of the band onto you. The video is what really made the singers into idols. Their looks, their attitude, the artistic nature of the editing. They also broaded the meaning of songs and maybe introduced new elements that you couldn't get just through listening. Music videos were the shit, weren't they?

However it doesn't seem to be the same story anymore. MTV only plays music videos at like 4am and VH1 is almost completely void of music videos.

Yes, you can still find them online, and a lot of people do do that. But the internet also gave rise to a lot of low budget music vid's. Every band with a couple decent cameras and a Mac can make what passes for music videos these days.

Personally I didn't care about them anymore... until I saw this one. This music vid restored my belief that a good video can still do wonders for a good song. Sadly, the good vid's are still few and far between.
