Let's pretend for a moment...

That I'd never heard music before.

What SINGLE album would you recommend I listen to?

Seriously, if I wanted to I could just throw the next gay guy I come across right up against a wall and give him an anal assault and he wouldn't complain one bit.

^ lol.

that's a difficult question to answer, bears. thinking of a single album to show someone who's never heard music before brings to mind a shitton of albums.

im going to go with three that i would ultimately choose....

*michael jackson - thriller

*beach boys - pet sounds

*creedence clearwater revival - cosmo's factory

out of those three, prob. *ccr would be the one i picked to show you.

* subject to change

edit: dammit, i just thought of like ten more albums, but im not gonna change the list.

the beatles - revolver

end of their poppy stage, beginning of the acid days...when music became more than just what was on the radio...

Hell yeah, great choice with Cosmo's Factory. Or Willy And The Poorboys, can't go wrong with either.

If not those two, I'd show for either

Anything Classical or possible African Tribal Dance. If that's the case, you have to start with the roots, first!

To start out with, I'd probably show you something old mixed with new, and bursting with raw talent.

AKA this

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/QjA5faZF1A8&hl=en_US &fs=1&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScree n" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptacc ess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/QjA5faZF1A8&hl=en_US &fs=1&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="a lways" allowfullscreen="tru e" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

Organized sound with the intent of artistic and aesthetic appeal.

Sounds [organized by humans] with the intent of artistic and aesthetic appeal.

Wind and water are just sounds. There's no intent to the noise, it's random.
Birds are aesthetically appealing but technically they are just communicating.
Pick up lines and "Let's go get lunch" aren't considered music so I don't think birds should count.
Yes they are wonderful to hear; I leave my windows open 24/7 because they nest right by my window and it sounds awesome; but it's not music.
