Epic live events where you think "wish I was There"

There are quite a few but I'll start with three:

Seems ironically fitting

From the Division Bell tour:

Not really so much that I could be there, but just the pun mainly

^Well, I was THERE when it was at Mile High...and I like the pun...

I also spent the whole of Metallica's set standing right at the feet of James Hetfield, Kirk Hammet, Jason Newstead, and John Marshall (of Metal Church) who stood in for Hetfield after he was nearly blown up in Toronto in 1992.

Also saw Ozzy from the front row, and The Dead at Red Rocks in 2003.

Holy nut in my pants Batman.....

This is a classic show. The two disc set is awesome with two cuts of this song in the set. Amazing stuff. There were two shows each day on the 12-31 and 1-1. With the two on this set, one on the old release and the cut on an old Hendrix movie make 4/4 And they are all just as unique in their own right each time.

Jason Becker.....he's been mentioned among some of us before, and certainly has a place here....

I'm gonna peg him at 19 in this video, around 1988.

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/9WqE_q3kFUM?fs=1&amp ;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScree n" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptacc ess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/9WqE_q3kFUM?fs=1&amp ;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="a lways" allowfullscreen="tru e" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

He's completely incapacitated these days due to Lou Gehrigs disease, which he was diagnosed with about 1991, and given 3-5 years. He's still here, and he's still composing.

<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/qBnb5ICE3jQ?fs=1&amp ;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScree n" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptacc ess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/qBnb5ICE3jQ?fs=1&amp ;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="a lways" allowfullscreen="tru e" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

At :20, you get to see him as he lives today, with music he composed for a circa 2008 release. He cannot care for himself, but he still continues to compose, using musicians as a portal to play the pieces he continues to writes with the help of his father. They have developed a system of eye movements as the sole form of communication.

Did you get that?

Next time you're on the pity pot feeling sorry for yourself because your life sucks and you have nothing going for you, think about this guy, and refuse to give up on yourself.

The body is but a vessel. As long as the 'soul' is there, it will find a way to make due with whatever resources it has. This man has retained one of his most championed qualities, and with that he is making the most of it.

Not an 'epic' event, but one I wish I was there for. Paul Gilbert is my #1 as far as overall skill and range

Basically, a lot of events with Paul Gilbert.
