Music I/we missed in 2010

This happens most years, I look at the "best of" lists and see there's a whole bunch of music I missed out on.

So far these are the best albums I missed:

Beach House - Teen Dream
Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti - Before Today
Deerhunter - Halcyon Digest
Flying Lotus - Cosmogramma
Morning Benders - Big Echo

Actually, I think I missed most new music in 2010. The only ones I can remember listening to last year were Dr. Dog - Shame, Shame, Janelle Monae, and The Bird & The Bee.

Anyway, what else did I miss?

Seriously, if I wanted to I could just throw the next gay guy I come across right up against a wall and give him an anal assault and he wouldn't complain one bit.

dang. Lots of music to check out. Both good and overwhelming.

maps & atlases are great! Haven't heard their recordings, only live, definitely need to check that out. Mavis Staples as well.

Thanks Bearsy

Bolded are the ones I also loved but this year my top 10 most listened to albums according to my last.fm were

Local Natives – Gorilla Manor
Broken Bells – Broken Bells
Dr. Dog – Shame, Shame
Broken Social Scene – Forgiveness Rock Record
The Black Keys – Brothers
Arcade Fire – The Suburbs
Vampire Weekend – Contra
Band of Horses – Infinite Arms
Wolf Parade – Expo 86
Surfer Blood – Astro Coast

pretty generic and not really telling of all the different types of music i loved both live and through the headphones...

i will post more as i remember them...

I listened to the Arcade Fire record, but for some reason I have to be in a "mood" to listen to them nowadays. I suspect a few years I'll come back to it and be all "whoa."

I like this Tallest Man on Earth record "The Wild Hunt," too. If I wasn't really into the first Vampire Weekend record would I be more into the second?

Jonsi - Go (sugar ros' frontman solo effort)

LCD Soundsystem - This is happening (final album from the amazing dance group...supposedly)

Ólafur Arnalds - ...And They Have Escaped the Weight of Darkness (moody norweigan music. awesome)

The Radio Dept - Clinging to a Scheme (awesome pop-kraut from europe)

Teen Daze - Four More Years (Awesome chillwave shit, great production)

Tame Impala - Innerspeaker (Psych rock from australia, old school and awesome)

Twin Shadow - Forget (New buzzband from Brooklyn, really cool new wave 80's sound)

It feels good catching up. I've been listening to lots of OLD music (which of course, is still wonderful) and it's nice hearing the beautiful new sounds.

I've also been playing a lot of music... so this is good for refreshing my brain a bit. If that makes sense.

It's gonna take a while but I'm going to do my best at checking everything out. Keep 'em coming Yahooka

"Brothers" by Black Keys, fully solid album start to end

Elton John & Leon Russell "The Union" got lots of play for me

Cee-Lo "Lady Killer"

And since it dropped to 5 dollars in 2010 at Target Prince's "Lotus Flower" is worth 5 bucks for any Prince fan even though its just a very few tracks that make it worth it.

And for any Cherrywine fans out there, Shabazz Palaces is certainly worth the purchase.

Thanks to Waves for finally pushing me over the line for Dam Funk. Been pondering it too long, will be buying this weekend.

I keep forgetting about that Elton John & Leon Russell record! I read about it so long ago and thought "hmm, that sounds worthwhile." And I've had a few other people tell me about that.

Also, got this e-mail from the hype machine about their top 50 http://hypem.com/#!/zeitgeist/2010/albums

meh

i miss the 90's

murder by death seems pretty fun

black keys tighten up is nice video is entertaining

Tame Impala - Innerspeaker - only positive thing i can say is that guy dances like no one's watching

the rest sounds like weak electronica with often way over processed vocals but i'm generalizing

usually a fan of t-bone burnett but the ej & lr team up falls short - although i'm totally biased, not being a ej fan

nice to see such a range of musical interests though

lol at the people in this thread who would expect me to lol at them.

i was gonna post some music that i liked in 2010, but since it doesnt fit the ultra computer dork/ leetspeek haxors taste of greives and waves and the others who not surprisingly all like the exact same (crap) music, i wont bother.

ps its possible to like some of that music without being a tool , so this isnt meant for all of u, just the ones i know like it because of the way i suspect they are.

(difference between liking music that you could take a walk out to the lake on a warm spring day to, or sit at your computer at 4am with headphones to while on your 9th hour of fps on xbox)

Too bad you miss the point entirely and the point of this thread is to talk about music that actually came out in 2010, in 2020 feel free to post your thoughts when you get around to listening to what is coming out now...

I'm not much of a fan of most of the music in this thread, but serious lol @ citing CSNY like no one here listens to them. I've seen Stills, who was hilariously drunk live. I saw CSN who couldn't harmonize anymore. I'm going to see Buffalo fucking Springfield. I bet you can catch it on Youtube though.
