same here, i saw them in 09 at bumbershoot in the rain and it was a way better show than now, they just seemed flat, and low energy...

yeah, it has a couple throwbacks to their old style but most of it is arena rock fodder...

Started off well enough, had awesome stage set up and all that...But they decided a while back that they were going to play the soft bulletin in full, which is cool but, it isn't long enough of an album to fill an hour...So an lsd'd out Wayne Coyne tried his best to babble through the rest, by the time it got to the song about spiderbites and the death of his friend/band-mate he was totally bumming himself and everyone else out by being all super emotional... Definitely not the best lips show i have seen, shit it wasn't even the best flaming lips show at sasquatch that i have seen....It's just good that Modest Mouse played the best set I have seen by them in the past 3-4 years if not ever, right after or else people would have been really pissed...

Just got my Tickets for Sunday at Bumbershoot over Labor day...This year they wanted to "scale" down on the big name bands and try to hype regional and upcoming talent which lead to an overall "weaker" lineup...But being the smelly hippy that I am, the attraction was strong enough and the price was right@ $30 a head... This means a day of getting drunk in the middle of seattle while listening to some pretty chill tunes will be had. Later in the evening there is a late night "dance" thing featuring Hot Chip, DåM-FunK and an Artist TBA hat runs from 10pm to 4am which sounds pretty dope...

Gail Pettis Quartet
Sol
Kasey Anderson and The Honkies
Kore Ionz
Davila 666
The Lonely Forest
Wayne Horvitz
"Café Paloma Band"
Whalebones
DJ Justin Timbreline
Mad Rad
Massy Ferguson
NoMeansNo
Broken Social Scene
The Sight Below
Thomas Marriott's Human Spirit
Thee Oh Sees
DåM-FunK + Master Blazter
Shigeto
The Jim Jones Revue
AgesandAges
Atari Teenage Riot
Com Truise
Tennis
Das Racist
Jessica Lea Mayfield
HTRK
Kaylee Cole
Anti-Flag
Warpaint
Tycho
Allen Stone
Butthole Surfers
Leon Russell
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis
School of Seven Bells
Toro y Moi
Joe Pug and the Hundred Mile Band
Lusine
The Kills
Carbon Leaf
Wiz Khalifa

Any suggestions for acts to see would be appreciated..

Shigeto would be the one artist in the lineup I would HAVE to see.
Classical jazz drummer turned insanely creative beat maker extraodinaire.

Tycho

Happy sun-tinged BOC style beats. Apparently his new A/V set up is pretty dope. He's a visual artist too so he's pretty good at capturing the feel of his music in visual form. Check it out:

HOLY SHIT

So, last night John Butler Trio was supposed to play in Ottawa. shitty weather and the main stage collapsing cancelled the show.

Just got the update from a friend (and confirmed it on JBT's facebook page) that he is playing a GUERILLA BUSK set in a park downtown near where I work. Oh man this is the best news ever! I was pissed that I had to miss it last night, then relieved that he never actually played, and now he does this! AMAZING!!!

One of the best musical performances I've ever seen. Everybody was hurting after from smiling so much. Then me and my friends all got drunk. Best Monday Ever!

Oh, and it turns out I was sitting right next to his wife and two kids the whole time - Pretty sure my smiling face will be in their family photos! Man, what a priceless performance!

Yeah, she did sing a song with him! It was beautiful. John also called her out mid-way through Funky Tonight yelling right at her , "I LOVE YOU DANIELLE!"
