Remastered
I was driving a few weeks back and the DJ had apparently taken a few pet projects, of which one was to fuck around with the track of Rolling Stones' "Satisfaction" and taking it out of mono, putting it in stereo, I'm pretty lost as to the technical jargon here, but essentially made the recorded piano and acoustic riffs (which you don't hear over the bass and vocals in the official release) stand out. It was p. cool yo.
Anybody know or seen anything similar done?

this is pretty commonplace nowadays(remastering ) they do it on old music and movies too. they take an old single track recording and double it. pan the tracks apart slightly and you get more "space" in your mix, which explains why you can hear more elements of the song.
im not sure of how they did it in the example you gave, but im guessing they used software to widen certain frequency bands. its a subtle effect but when done right it just makes the track sound more "finished" by chance do you have access to the song?

Try looking for a 'Spacial Enhancing' Plug In.
Should be one for just about every program out there. Stereo mic'ing a cabinet in a separate 'warm/live' room can give you some sonic spice to play with. |
