Mmkay, I think it's time for another METAL thread
I'm lost.

It seems to me that metal has fell off so badly in the last 3 or 4 years. Back in 05-06, say, metal of all sorts was abundant and a guy could lose himself for hours discovering new bands and great songs that would blow your fucking mind.

But wtf now? So many bands have broken up, stopped touring, stopped getting hype on the internet. I know there's good ones out there still but they just don't fall in your lap like they used to.

So what have you heard?

Well there are some bands I can recommend myself.

Asking Alexandria has revived a lot of interest in metalcore.

Ceremonial Perfection is a newer band that has a great thrash sound.

Scar Symmetry is OK.

But honestly I think everything has been done before in the genre and it's pretty much run it's course.

Metal is definitely a genre one has trouble defending as they become adults.

I noticed that too. Must be a hormonal thing? I used to be able to crank it and listen for hours but now if I listen to 2 or 3 songs it just hurts my ears.
