2012 Concerts Thread

it had to be done...

on these motherfucking freezing cold winter days when you sit curled into a ball just wishing the fucking snow would melt and summer days would return... its the perfect time to start thinking about festivals, and lemonade, and music, and a nice fat spliff and warm july sunshine...

dammit...can someone speed up this whole global warming shit... im tired of winter

...so does anybody have any summer festival plans yet? I know of two festivals that im considering attending. There has been such a proliferation of festivals in the last few years that there are literally festivals with all different kinds of music, and all types of accomodations, all over the country...

festival culture is pretty fucking awesome.... it makes me happy just thinking about the summer to come...

a few months to go...better get planning!

ozora in hungary (august) is my only certain plan for week long camping type festivals.

and otherwise i have to see how busy i am writing my thesis and doing the research. if i have time in june i'm going back to canada for astral harvest and entheos. if i'm too busy writing during the summer (june-july) its more likely that i'll stay closer to home and check out sonica (montenegro) and/or boom (portugal), both in august.

also in belgrade there is beer festival, which is becoming sketchier each year but its free so i'll check that out again. and also exit festival in novi sad is convenient.

basically this summer is going to be nowhere near as raging as last summer, when i camped in the forest for more than half of july volunteering/attending festivals.

So I'd like to note that This Will Destroy You was rad. They really dialed it in, and they were all putting everything they had into it. I was rather annoyed with their openers, though. There were fucking 3, for starters. A little heads up that they would be on near three hours after doors woulda been nice.
One was bleh, the second was pretty good, and the third was so bad that people clapped preemptively to try to get him to get off the stage. He essentially jammed some really shit/annoying drone bs way too loud. It was the worst opener I've ever experienced, and there's been a lot.

Well who know's what the Ottawa Blue's Festival will have in the line up this year, but I plan on going to Belleville Music festival where I will see Boston, George Thorogood and some other band, and I'm probably going to see Bryan Adams who is coming to Kingston May 2nd.

That is a pretty awesome lineup Grieves.

Good to hear it lived up to expectations, thanks. 3 hours of openers is a fuckin joke though lol.

I felt the same way, especially after the past two years, but the more I listen to the bands I haven't heard and re familiarize myself with old favorites, I have no doubts that it will be as epic as any of the other 6 years I've gone...

Sasquatch has always gotten flack for not being Coachella 2.0 or Coachella jr, but that isn't the point...The line up isn't chosen by a group (golden voice), for sasquatch it is just one dude "adam zachs" and representatives of the venue, make all the line-up decisions, which lead to a lot more "wtf" bookings, but they always pay off well...I mean last year on the last day they had "!!!" open for Deerhunter and at first one is like "huh" but it end up being one of the best back to backs of the whole weekend...

I'm seeing Puscifer in march!

But I wish I was going to a real festival like Sasquatch or something! I've never been to a really big festival like that but I really wanna. This summer I'm gonna try to find one.

OMG Fuck yea!

John mediski, Robert Randolph and NMA! Avett brothers are moving up and up the line ups 3 years ago you could barely read their names at the bottom!

Radiohead RHCP and Phish is by far the best headliners, but the rest seems weak... well Dispatch, Blind Pilots, The Roots.... are good... hmm

actually the Metallica event looks good. Modest Modest, Arctic Monkeys Metallica right there you have a good show!
