The flaming lips will never be taken seriously. On one of their albums they're mgiht be five songs that you will listen to on a regualr basis with the "eh factor" cranked up to 11 on the rest.

No-one except the indie righteous will ever lsiten to zakeeria or whatever it's called.

The only one I know is aphex twin. Which for a lot of his efforts is an exercise in endurance as much as it is music. You want to know why he created his own synths? BEcause they didn't make ones that were obnoxious enough.

The libertines loved the drama. It was all they stood up on. Apart from that they pulzerised all other british guitar msuic into a mediocre paste before adding there magic ingredient;mystical folk bollocks thought up by a drunk guy in a pub. Which fitted well with their music.

Primal scream tried to sound like the rolling stones but then they did load sof drugs and discovered techno. Somewhere along the line they felt compelled to make music.

And his mixing, you know, trance is trance. 'Involver' is a great recording, and he makes the shite genre that is trance pretty damn good.

And what about Dickey Betts? There's been more than a couple guitarists in that band forever. Warren Haynes is tearing it up pretty well these days with 'em.
