Growing in an apartment
I have experimented with growing before. I had seeds from a bag of commercial red hair skunk. I bought cheap fluorescent lights at home depot, etc. 24 hour lighting and the 4 plants were doing alright. This was my 1st try! I had help from a book, but I am a natural.
This was back when living w/parents. It was just an experiment and got the plants about a foot and a half high with 5 sets of leaves on each before I threw them out. I was just starting to feed them miracle grow when the leaves were turning yellow. OK, I have been living in apartments since. I have had at least 1 case in my current apartment of management coming into my room without notice (to put cover over A/C in winter). It kind of pissed me off, but I see no clause in handout where they have to give notice, just that "they try to when possible." Are there any laws regarding this or is it based on apartment policy? I don't think it would be possible to do it if I had no notice of apartment maintenance workers entering. Also, would the smell be too overpowering in a 1 bedroom for me? Would the smell carry to other rooms if only 1 or 2 plants. I don't know how much they stink. I've never been around blooming plants. I live in Minnesota; I can't grow outside. |

landlord can access the apt. at any time for emergencies.
all other times he must give 24 hour notice minimum, or risk being sued by you under the landlord tenant act and yes one plant of most strains will smell too much vithout venting. Last edited by Roach; 10-10-2008 at 08:54 PM. |

Is that a Federal law? If so I should sue their ass now or at least file a complaint. I also wonder if they entered without permission and called the cops if the plants would be admissable evidence. Probably still would be. You guys are lucky to own your own houses. Count your blessings.

You need to build a growbox.......plenty of info on web.....
To control smell....buy a "muffin" fan from walmart that will fit snuggly in the top or "mouth" a 3 or 5 gallon bucket. Drill about 3/16" +\- holes evenly spaced about 5" down from the top of the bucket. Put 10 cups of water, 1 cup ona-gel and 1 cup of soil crystals in bucket. Now Use duct tape, whatever u need to get fan to stay snug, face it up turn it on low.....place it out og sight anywhere in the room.....even hook it to a timer...cheap and effective....last from a few weeks to a month depending on your "mix" of water to gel...the soil grystals are key......they hold everything together bot release the gel smell very slowly. |

I would avoid growing in any place where security and stealth could be compromised. A couple of ounces per two months is not even close to worth the risk. Your freedom to walk around in public and go do whatever you want whenever you want for the most part is worth way more than what you would make or save growing in an unsecured area. Growing in a secured area is dangerous enough, anything else is begging for trouble.
