How many plants?

I have a NFT system 1 metre wide by 2 metres long and I have 40 plants in it under 2 x 600 watt hps lights with gull wing reflectors, they were transplanted to this system after starting as clones and vegged for about 4 weeks old and 12 inches high, do you think this is too many for this system????

I've never filled up a 3x6 ft tray... But if vegged for a month I think they will be to big to fit 40 full grown plants... I would pick and choose the best looking ones and slowly remove the less impressive ones until you get a feeling of that growth when flowering is initiated... In vegging extra room is not really important as it is when flowering has begun
the plants will want room... And are going to still grow another foot or two during flower

i agree 40 plants is going to be too cramped.
you want to give thoes roots PLENTY of room to grow
