Inside, I've got a couple of plants that are around a foot tall. When I watered them last night, I noticed several leaves that had been eaten on. The best way I know of to describe it is that the leaves looked like skeletons of their former healthy selves. Closer, careful inspection revealed two worms. One was about 3/4 inch long, and black with stripes that were almost a flourescent yellowish green. It appeared to be an adult. The other worm appeared to be a baby version of the adult worm. It was light grey in color. I also noticed quite a few tiny, tiny flying insects that looked about like gnats.
Can someone please tell me what kind of insecticide I can use to kill these critters; yet not hurt my plants? I'm not big on "all natural" remedies. They never have done very well for me. I would apply them to my veggies as directed; yet, I would still end up loosing quite a bit of my crop to the damnedable little creepy-crawlies. So, I'm not going down that road with the plants that I have now! I need something that I can spray on the plants to kill the current little bastards, and keep the future little bastards away/off of my plants. Yet, I need it to be something that won't damage my plants or poison me when I eventually harvest and smoke the buds. Thanks in advance for any help and/or advice you have to offer!! |

Well there's a bunch of different things you can do...
Most would start with prevention... How do you get worms inside? My geuss is you used soil from outside... It's better to Bo buy some fresh soil for 5-15$ depending on quality but they are clean and bug and disease free so you wouldn't have that problem but now that you've got some kind of bug there's things you need to do including identifieng your "worms" or IMO slugs if they are slugs put a tray of beer out and the slugs snails will go directly to the beer and dring until they dehdrate themselves slugs and snails will leave a slimy trail on the leaves so it shouldn't be hArd to indentify also if you want a poison still I've used avid which is very dangerous and runs through the plants system for 45 days and you won't have a single bug many ways to solve this w/out poison |

Thanks for your input, sirsmokalot989! The soil that I used was a bag of Miracle Grow potting soil that was brand new from Wally World. The "worm" is definately not a slug... I know those on site. Our dogs love to get them at night and freak us out by making us think there is something terribly wrong with them!! LOL!! I suppose that "worm" was a poor choice on my part. These guys look more like some sort of catapillar than a worm. But, I am unable to see any hair on them (not with my naked eyes, that is) like most other caterpillars that I've seen.
I sprayed them with some stuff that is supposed to be a broad spectrum insecticide that can be used on tomatoes. After spraying on tomatoes, they are supposed to be safe to eat in 3 days. So, I figure not spraying my plants for about a month or so should make them safe to use. I hate to call the company and ask how long before I can smoke my MJ!! LOL!! Since I sprayed them, I've not found any more "gnat" like bugs or worms/catapillars on the plants. With the exception of minor initial damage done by them, my plants are beautiful... and, growing like "weeds" (sorry... couldn't help that!!)!!! LOL!!!!! |
