I will be starting indoor growing in a few months, once i get my outdoor harvest, i am completely new on indoor stuff, i will have a whole bedroom 1 window at my disposal. so if i want to have 12 plants in soil, will i need more than 1 light, what wattage should i be running? MH or HPS? LED? what about reflectors, fans, room air conditioning, humidifier, etc.... if i dont care about the smell do i need one of those filters? let me know, whatever helps. also if youve seen some great setups paste the link, thanks.... ohh yeah heres my babies now that yall helped me nurse back to life, the far right top one is the pineapple, all the others are skunks.

As for the 12 plants..it all depends how long you gonna veg them. If you do a Sea of green grow (with a small veg period) then a 400 or 600W HPS should be fine. If u have the money get an MH lamp for vegging.

You will also need :

a 5 or 6" RVK exhaust fan with ducting. Fresh air should be coming in the growroom froma window or something and hot/humid air should be going out of the room via the ducting.

1 good reflector

1 ballast with built-in timer and contactor (its worth the extra cost)

pots for 12 plants in 3 sizes (small, md, LG) for your 3 repotings.

Good soil with perlite, etc

1 oscilating fan to push air on top of your cannopy

thermometer hygrometer

bio nutes for veging and bloom

time to get involved with your hobby

^ pretty much sets you up with everything ud need...
I'd say make sure you cover the carpet and walls in the bedroom with plastic below any reflective materials you may want to put up to prevent the moisture from getting in walls and carpet causing mold....
As for going from indoor to out the main thing you need to realize is you control the plants environment and there are 4 main needs... Light (for photosynthesis) air water and food... When you get the air water and food right then you need to decide how much light you'll give them... That's the key factor... Meaning the less light the less possible end product... From personal experience a 250 watt light gave me 4 oz and a 600 gave me near 14 oz and a 1000 I'm not sure but would be a good size to go with in a whole bedroom or maybe 2 or 3 600w if the room is larger
metal halide is more in the blue spectrum which is similar to early summer sun... Whereas hps is more red like the fall sun... Metal halide will produce higher levels of thc but less solid dense nug... Hps is solid and newer hps bulbs are including a bit more blue to add to it... LEDs I hear are going to be the thing in the near future but not quite yet
as for fan and reflector maybe an air cooled hood which allows you to exhaust the heat of the light without heating up your room allowing you to get the light a bit closer making up for the glass screens lumen loss...
I use a can fan 6" 448 cfm (cubic ft per min) which has done the trick for me... Also a little charcoal filter will help as it will stink worse than I thought it would

wow, 16 ounces...Not bad at all man.

How many plants and what area (sq.foot) did you cover with the 600?

If i really dial the plants and the strain is a yeilder and with a long vegging period (plus topping) i can maybe get 6-7oz from a 250W. Usually though its about 4-5.

But damn....16oz is a big difference.

Vaporedout : SSAL is right about the CF. You need it. Phat makes good filters that last 3-4 grows, but i dont know if they re available in the US.

Theres also many other little gadgets, that add ease in your grow room. One of them are fan controllers w/temp sensors.

Sound insulating aluminum ducting also helps to bring down noise levels from bigger fans.
