A ventilation question

If you were to grow one plant on an unused bathroom, would a partially open window be enough ventilation or would one plant stink enough to require a fan to the outside?

Didn't want to make a new thread for a quick question:

Would 3 68w(4200 lumens each) be enough for a space of 31"x21"x30"tall(from soil level to the top)? 2-5 plants.

It's gona be enough for a few plants but they will be stretchy and for flowering your gonna need a bit more power
but if that's all u got go for it they should grow but I'd advise spending about a hundred and some change for a 1-250 watt hps as that would be more sufficient

I will be changing my setup for a more stealthy cab, I have one last question, would a 80mm(34.5cfm, .10sp) fan be enough to ventilate a 4 cubic feet box with 3 68w cfls?

I made some math and came up with numbers that says I need 7cfm(accounting for filter and ambient temps as well as the space and lights) to exchange the air once per minute, not sure how accurate that is. The fan is 34cfm, but I think I will be using a 5v adapter, to lower the sound(though sound won't matter), and I think it still gives me more than 7cfms(actually around 13cfm I think if my math doesn't fail).

5v = 40% of 12v, 34.5cfm X .4 = 13.8cfm

Is that math right? or did I input the wrong numbers?

Also, I asked this in another forum, but I wanted to ask you guys as well, the more opinions the better:

I was sketching some filter designs and came up with this, do you guys think it will work on a cab like mine(4 cubic feet, 204w cfl), or will it not be enough? I was told it was not enough carbon, would adding more carbon depth help(how much)? Any suggestions to make it better or a suggestion to build another cheap filter? Anything?

Be wary of this- if the fan is not designed to run on lower voltages lowering the voltage could cause it to overheat (anti intuitive I know), I'd advise against doing this unless you are sure you know what you are doing.

Oh ok, I can get a 12v adapter, sound is really no problem, the cab will be below my computer and that mofo is fucking loud. I thought on using a 5v because I already have a couple of those and I thought I wouldn't need the whole 34cfm for a small cab. Thanks.

No opinion on the filter?

You can get it to work, you might have to mess around with it a fair bit. Where are you getting the charcoal from?

I heard wall-mart sells a bottle of activated carbon in the fish tank section, I went by last week and checked it out but I haven't bought any yet.

By mess around you mean messing with the amount of carbon? Thats one of the reasons I design it with pvc, makes it easy to dismount and mess around/clean.

Trick is having enough carbon to absorb smells while allowing free movement of air.

The way an off the shelf carbon filter is built goes some way to maximizing the surface area of carbon while allowing free movement of air. I'm sure you can build something yourself but you might have to go to greater lengths than just having activated charcoal in a tube.
